Ed Sheeran compares Watching ‘Om Shanti Om‘ to First Experiencing ‘Starโ Wars’
Los angeles, CA – Pop superstar Ed Sheeran recently shared his keenโค reaction โto watching Shah Rukh Khan’s โ2007 Bollywood film Om Shanti Om, describingโ the experience as โakin to introducing someone to Star Wars for the very first time. Sheeran revealed his thoughts during a conversation with Zane Lowe on his โคYouTube channel.
The โขsinger discussed โhis month-long trip to โIndiaโข for the filming of his song “Sapphire,” part โofโ his eighth studio album โ play, โand his immersion in the country’s โขdiverse cultures.โค He noted how โdrastically the culture, language, food, fashion, and music changed every hundred miles during his โคtravels.
Sheeranโข explained, “It’s a wealth of โfinding of movies, and someone going like, ‘Oh, โhave you seenโ this movie?’ Have you seenโค Om Shanti Om? It’s like a really big shah โฃRukh Khanโฃ movie, andโข it has amazing songs and dances in it. This is โa weirdโข analogy, but it is almost like introducing Star Wars to someone for the first time, โand they just go like, ‘What the f** is this?’ There are superstars in the โฃsame country singing in different languages.”
He alsoโ collaborated withโข Arijit Singh on “Sapphire” and spent time exploring India,โ includingโฃ takingโค auto โrides and performing on the streets of Hyderabad. Sheeran described his time in India and working with Singh as “the most amazing days in my musical career.”
