Farmers’ Protests in Langenfeld: Clash with ‘Lateral Thinkers’ Scene

People from the “lateral thinker” scene wanted to use the farmers’ protests for their own slogans. But that didn’t go down well with farmers.

During the farmers’ protests on Monday in Langenfeld, people from the spectrum of the so-called “lateral thinkers” scene attempted to mingle with the farmers with their own slogans. That is what the police said. However, the attempts were consistently prevented by the farmers and the uninvited guests were excluded from the protests after consultations between the police and the meeting leadership.

Around 6:30 a.m., around 50 farmers with their tractors met in a hiking parking lot on Bergische Landstrasse, along with around ten truck drivers who showed solidarity with the farmers. The meeting participants then drove to the motorway entrances on Hardt (A3), Berghausener Straße (A59) and Bergische Landstraße (A542) to line up there with their agricultural machinery and trucks. However, the motorway entrances were not completely closed. No criminal offenses were identified by the police.

Duisburg Islamist Sentenced to Life Imprisonment: No Remorse, No Compassion

Düsseldorf (dpa) – Eight months after the murderous knife attacks in Duisburg, a confessed Islamist received the maximum sentence. The Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court sentenced the 27-year-old to life imprisonment on Tuesday for murder and four counts of attempted murder.

The court also noted the particular gravity of his guilt, which practically rules out release after a minimum period of 15 years in prison. It also imposed subsequent preventive detention.

No remorse and no compassion

The Syrian showed no remorse, no compassion and had announced further crimes, a representative of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office said. He followed the slogan of the terrorist group Islamic State to turn the entire world into a theater of war.

The confessed Islamist initially killed a 35-year-old man on the street in Duisburg at night on April 9th with at least 28 stab wounds. Nine days later, he stabbed and seriously injured four visitors with a knife in a Duisburg fitness studio.

“I wanted to do more deeds”

“I wanted to kill as many people as possible,” he confessed, and: “I wanted to commit more acts until I was killed, so that I would die as a martyr.”

The defendant’s indifference was shocking for the victims and their families, the co-plaintiffs said. The defense attorney had not made a request: “My client hasn’t spoken to me. On the first day I was able to stop him, but then he made a statement that went beyond the content of the accusation.

The 27-year-old spoke again on Monday: “You can do whatever and how you want. That’s just life here in this world. We hope that God will take us to paradise,” he said. He showed no reaction to the verdict on Tuesday.

Train driver warning strike causes numerous train cancellations in North Rhine-Westphalia

Train driver warning strike causes numerous train cancellations in North Rhine-Westphalia

Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) – The train driver’s warning strike at several railway companies also led to numerous train cancellations in North Rhine-Westphalia on Friday. Only about one in five trains ran on Deutsche Bahn’s long-distance services. There were also many cancellations and restrictions in regional transport. The German Locomotive Drivers’ Union (GDL) had called for warning strikes by train drivers from Deutsche Bahn, NordWestBahn and RheinRuhrBahn.

On the highways, the ADAC recorded relatively little traffic jams of 50 to 70 kilometers during the morning rush hour. Many commuters had prepared for the rail strike and the risk of slippery conditions announced by the weather service, said a spokesman. There was more going on on Friday afternoon: around 4 p.m., WDR counted a total of around 240 kilometers of traffic jams.

Deutsche Bahn had drawn up emergency timetables for the GDL’s 24-hour warning strike. Only the RE 42 between Münster and Mönchengladbach and the RE 17 between Hagen and Kassel should run regularly. “The emergency timetable is running stable,” said a railway spokeswoman in the afternoon. She described the situation at the train stations as “very quiet”. The need for information was still high: a dpa reporter observed a long queue in front of the information desk in the station lobby at Cologne Central Station at midday.

Train traffic should start fully again at the start of operations on Saturday. However, individual trains could still be canceled as a result of the warning strike. “We expect a scheduled offer again during Saturday,” the railway spokeswoman continued.

The GDL’s nationwide warning strike at Deutsche Bahn began on Thursday at 10 p.m. According to the railway spokeswoman for North Rhine-Westphalia, there had already been isolated restrictions before that because trains had ended their journey at suitable locations. The warning strike at Deutsche Bahn was scheduled to last until Friday evening at 10 p.m.

The rail company National Express was not directly affected by the calls for a GDL warning strike. Punctuality on all lines is very high, said a spokeswoman in the afternoon. She was not aware of any failures. However, on the RE7 Krefeld-Rheine line, the trains had to take a detour at times because a signal box was not occupied.

A spokesman for the railway company Eurobahn also reported that a dispatcher was temporarily missing from a signal box in Düsseldorf in the morning. This led to delays. But there were no failures. “We assume that operations will run smoothly until the end of the day,” he said in the afternoon. The utilization is completely normal. “We didn’t notice any overcrowded trains. It’s a well-filled Friday.”

The railway companies called on passengers to find out about the current traffic situation via the website zuginfo.nrw. A free hotline has also been set up on 08000-996633.

NAfter a nationwide series of bomb threats, including against schools, two suspects have been identified. A 30-year-old from North Rhine-Westphalia and a 19-year-old from Baden-Württemberg are said to belong to a group that attracted attention with crimes on the Internet such as false emergency calls, as the Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office and the Stuttgart public prosecutor’s office announced on Monday. Two apartments were searched and evidence was confiscated.

They threatened to kill many innocent people. Because of the more than 250 threats, including against schools and authorities, the police were deployed more than 30 times and there were often evacuations.

Till Lindemann’s Controversial Concert in Düsseldorf: Protests, Resistance, and Unsettling Revelations

Till Lindemann’s Controversial Concert in Düsseldorf: Protests, Resistance, and Unsettling Revelations

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com November 11, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

On Friday evening, Rammstein singer Till Lindemann will perform in front of a sold-out crowd. But there is resistance to the tour – also in Düsseldorf.

There are around 150 people moving in the rain on Siegburger Straße in the Düsseldorf district of Oberbilk. Some of them wear yellow vests, others carry – mostly red – flags. They shout: “There are perpetrators in every city. Form gangs, destroy them.” Only a flight of stairs separates her from the hundreds of people who are currently queuing in front of the Mitsubishi Electric hall. There, on the other side of the steps, derisive cheers erupt as the counter-demonstration arrives.

Till Lindemann will be performing in Düsseldorf this Friday evening. Just six months ago, such a solo concert by the Rammstein frontman would hardly have attracted much attention. But then the summer of 2023 came. Several women made serious allegations against Lindemann. Corresponding investigations against the singer for sexual assault have now been discontinued. But the criticism remains. At the tour opener on Wednesday in Leipzig, around 600 people demonstrated against the concert. There were insults and minor arguments between fans and counter-demonstrators. A broad coalition also called for protests in Düsseldorf.

Demo van and protests before the concert

When the demo vehicle with the large banner “Fight Back. Stop sexist violence” reaches the rally site, admission to the hall hasn’t even begun yet. Some demo participants have set up their posters right on the path between the S-Bahn station and Halle. Only a plastic police tape separates them from the arriving concertgoers.

Time and again, fans (almost exclusively male) stop in front of the (mainly female) demo participants and take photos. Occasionally there are small verbal arguments.

In addition to the local call for demos from several left-wing and feminist groups from the region, there was also a supra-regional letter of protest from the activists of “No Rammstein in Berlin”. At the end of October, they called for Lindemann’s entire solo tour to be canceled. They also appealed to the city of Düsseldorf and Mayor Stephan Keller (CDU), the North Rhine-Westphalia state government and “D.Live” as the hall operator to cancel the concert. “There is a possibility that the recruitment and abuse system will continue,” writes “Kein Rammstein in Berlin”. “These concerts are not safe places and must therefore be stopped.”

Media not permitted

Speakers and topics alternate at the rally. It’s about Lindemann. Because the concert shouldn’t have taken place. But it is also about capitalism and the Kurdish liberation struggle. Lindemann is just a symbol of a larger social problem. In between, battle cries are uttered. “We are here out of pure hostility against your fan community,” echoes in the direction of the snake. Then applause breaks out.

Like many other media outlets, t-online would have liked to report on the concert itself. About what the mood is like in the hall among the around 7,500 spectators. But a telephone request was rejected earlier this week. Accreditation is not possible at such short notice. A reaction that obviously had a method. Regional media in Leipzig and Stuttgart also reported that they had not been admitted. For this reason, the German Press Agency canceled its coverage of the concerts.

“Is this a Palestine demonstration?”

Not everyone who walks past the demo understands what is actually going on here. A young man asks his companion: “Is this a Palestine demonstration?” The vast majority of people in the Lindemann queue do not pay attention to what is being chanted within their line of sight. Anyone who responds and calls something back is immediately whistled down and insulted.

Even for Lindemann himself, not everything is as before on this tour. The infamous “Row Zero”, for which, according to media reports, young women were deliberately recruited, will not take place in Düsseldorf, nor will there be an after-show party in the hall. However, an official celebration will take place after the concert in the Lierenfeld club “Tor 3”. Drummer Joe Letz will play there. He is also said to have been part of the casting system that sparked the scandal in the summer. The day before the concert, at the request of the Greens, the Düsseldorf city council should also deal with protection and safety concepts for women and “other vulnerable groups” at events. However, the application was withdrawn.

Not only are there significantly fewer demonstrators than two days earlier in Leipzig, there are also hardly any direct confrontations. According to a spokesman for the authorities, there were “no special incidents”. Only at the very end of the rally does things get hectic for a moment. A man with a beer bottle in his hand stands provocatively close to the edge of the demonstration and is pushed away by a masked demonstrator. “They’re fucking fascists, why don’t you do something,” the woman then shouts at the police officer who arrives. Then the demo is over. Long before Till Lindemann even appears on stage.

Freiburg Coach Christian Streich Defends Goalless Summer Newcomer Junior Adamu Against Borussia Mönchengladbach

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com November 5, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Freiburg’s coach Christian Streich has defended the still goalless summer newcomer Junior Adamu. “It’s not that easy,” said the SC Freiburg coach before the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky). When the striker came to the sports club in the summer, he was “sparkling with energy,” Streich reported. However, Adamu was slowed down by a long-term patellar tendinopathy. He wasn’t able to get used to his new team.

Junior Adamu was in the starting line-up for the Baden Bundesliga team twice this season, and the sports club lost both times, most recently on Wednesday in the second round of the DFB Cup against second division team SC Paderborn. In the Bundesliga home game against Gladbach he is expected to take a seat on the bench again.

Nevertheless, things could have been different for Adamu if his goal after being substituted in the game at Eintracht Frankfurt hadn’t been a few centimeters offside. “Junior has the strength of an ox, he only has muscles, but now his head needs to calm down and he needs a sense of achievement,” said Streich.

That would also be good for the entire team after the cup exit. “After the game they were very disappointed with themselves and the result,” reported the SC coach. He worked through the errors with the team in video analysis and also spoke to some players individually. “Now we can go into the next game with new courage.”

In terms of personnel, the situation is not improving given the number of long-term injuries. Only Yannik Keitel is an option again after muscular problems. “Normally he wouldn’t be in the squad, but due to the situation he might slip in,” said Streich.
