Mentalist, ex-minister, Miss France, actors, humorist, singers … Discover the 16 candidates of the new traitors

by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor September 3, 2025
written by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

RTL play and RTL Club are⁤ set to ‌launch the French version of “The Traitors” this Wednesday, September 3, featuring a diverse cast of 16 personalities competing for charity while attempting to identify hidden “traitors” within their⁤ ranks. the reality⁢ competition series, which will ‌also air on RTL Club every Friday at 8:05 p.m., blends strategy, deception, and alliances as contestants navigate a high-stakes game⁣ of trust. The upcoming season promises a compelling mix of well-known faces from entertainment, politics, and the world of⁢ beauty. Participants include mentalist Victor Maguy, former minister and ⁢Member of ⁣Parliament David Raucher, Miss France ‍2023 Indira Ampiot, actors including Héloïse Martin and Théo Fernandez, humorist Jérémy Ferrari, and singers including ‍Claudio Capeo and Gwendoline Dépré. Each contestant is playing not only for personal victory but also to ‌raise awareness and funds for‍ a charitable association of ‍their ‌choice, adding a layer of social⁣ obligation to the competitive dynamic.

The ‌premise of ‍”The Traitors” centers ‌around a group of contestants who must complete challenges‍ to ‌build a prize pot. Though, hidden ‍amongst them are “traitors” whose goal is to eliminate “faithful” players without being discovered. Daily meetings involve accusations, strategic maneuvering, and ultimately, the banishment of suspected traitors. The‍ faithful players win if they successfully identify and remove all traitors, while the ‍traitors win ⁣if‌ they manage to eliminate enough ⁤faithful players to equal ‌their numbers.

Knife Attack in Marseille Leaves Four Injured, Attacker Killed by Police

Marseille, France – A knife attack in Marseille on Tuesday afternoon ‍left at least four people injured, with one in serious condition, before the assailant was shot and killed ‍by police. The incident unfolded near the Old port, prompting a large-scale security response and disrupting⁢ local transportation.

The attacker, identified as a Tunisian national legally residing in France, embarked on ⁣a “criminal⁣ journey” targeting individuals connected to a hotel from wich⁤ he had recently been ‍evicted for non-payment, according to the prosecutor’s office. He initially attacked the hotel ‌manager, then his son – the⁣ most severely injured victim – and two passersby before confronting police.

Witnesses reported seeing the assailant wielding “two big butcher knives.” One eyewitness told AFP journalists that police arrived “very quickly” and attempted ⁢to subdue the man in front of ‌a fast-food restaurant. “they tried to stop ‌him… the man tried to attack a police officer with a knife. The policeman shouted ‘stop, stop it’ before hearing fire,” the witness recounted.

Authorities blocked off the area around‍ 4:00 p.m.,and two tram ‍lines experienced partial interruptions. A scientific police unit established a presence at the scene, covering the fast-food restaurant’s terrace with black⁣ tarpaulins.

French Interior Minister bruno⁢ Retailleau is scheduled to ‌arrive ⁤in‍ Marseille Tuesday evening to assess the situation and meet with local law enforcement at⁣ the Bishopric, the ⁣Marseille police‍ headquarters, around 8:30 p.m.

written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Brussels – A controversy is brewing at⁣ the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) following the selection of French Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Rima Hassan to deliver the conventional speech to graduating law students. Around 50 french intellectuals – including philosophers, filmmakers, and writers – have signed a carte ⁢blanche published in La Libre newspaper, expressing their strong opposition to the choice, alleging Hassan praises terrorism and calling on ULB management to veto her appearance.

Who is Rima Hassan, this French MEP which‌ arouses a lot of tensions?

The intellectuals’ letter describes the decision as “problematic” and a “fatal decision.”

The controversy has also drawn reaction from the Belgian political sphere. Alain Destexhe, a politician known for‌ his‍ right-wing views, publicly criticized the choice on social media, naming the students ⁣in the graduating class. Sophie Rohonyi, leader of⁣ the‌ Défi party, questioned whether the students were aware that they were honoring an elected official who, according ⁣to Rohonyi, “legitimizes the armed action of Hamas and refuses the ⁢peaceful ⁣solution of two⁣ states.”

“ULB law students – ⁣from which I have been right to be moved to⁤ humanitarian‍ drama in Gaza,” rohonyi stated.

As of now, ULB has not issued an official statement. However, Yvon Englert, the university’s former‍ rector, has spoken out “against this new‍ attempt⁢ to‍ cut university‌ independence.”

White Storks Land on Roofs in Liège Village

Liège, Belgium – An unusually large flock of white storks, numbering around thirty, has descended upon the village of Hermalle-sous-Huy in the province of Liège, Belgium, surprising local residents. The unexpected arrival was first noted on August 10, 2024.

While the area is known to host other bird species, including black storks adn herons, such a important gathering of white storks is unprecedented, according to local resident Vincent, who preferred not to disclose his last name. “There is a nest of black storks in the village, also herons, but white storks, I had never seen that. Sometimes there is one or two, but such a group, never. It’s quite impressive,” he stated.

The white stork (Ciconia ciconia) is a migratory bird that typically breeds in Europe and western Asia, wintering in Africa. Their presence in Hermalle-sous-Huy during the summer months suggests a potential deviation from their usual migratory patterns. The birds are currently congregating in fields near the village, attracting attention from birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.

The reason for this unusual congregation remains unknown. Vincent speculated that the birds might potentially be seeking relief from warmer temperatures elsewhere, prompting them to seek a cooler climate in the region. However, ornithologists suggest other factors could be at play, including changes in food availability or disruptions to their customary migratory routes.

White storks have experienced population declines in parts of their range due to habitat loss, pesticide use, and other environmental factors. Conservation efforts, including habitat restoration and the provision of artificial nesting platforms, have helped to stabilize and even increase populations in some areas. Belgium, specifically the Flemish region, has seen a resurgence in white stork populations in recent years due to reintroduction programs. The arrival of this flock in Liège province is a noteworthy event, potentially indicating an expansion of their range.
