Doug Bowser to Retire as President of Nintendo of America, Devon Pritchard Named Successor
Nintendo of America announced today that Doug Bowser will be retiring as President and Chief Operating Officer on December 31st, 2025. Bowser joined Nintendo in 2015 as Vice President of Sales & Marketing and assumed the role of president in April 2019, following the departure of Reggie Fils-Aimé.
His replacement will be Devon Pritchard, currently the Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Communications at Nintendo of America. Pritchard has been with NoA for 19 years and will also join the noa Board of directors and become a Nintendo Co., Ltd Executive Officer upon taking the position.
In a related leadership change, Satoru Shibata will become chief Executive Officer, in addition to his existing roles as Managing Executive Officer and Corporate Director of Nintendo Co., Ltd. Shibata previously served as president of Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of Australia.
Bowser expressed his gratitude for his time with the company, stating, “leading Nintendo of America has been the honor of a lifetime, and I am proud of what our team has accomplished…Now, it’s time for the next generation of leadership.” He voiced full confidence in Pritchard’s ability to lead the company forward.
Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa thanked Bowser for his contributions, noting he “brought smiles to the faces of people connected to nintendo.” Furukawa also expressed confidence in Pritchard, stating she will continue Nintendo’s mission of “creating smiles.”
Pritchard, who will officially begin her role on January 1st, 2026, acknowledged Bowser’s mentorship and expressed her commitment to building upon his legacy. She stated her focus will be on continuing nintendo’s tradition of appealing to both longtime fans and new players, saying, “My focus will be continuing to build on Nintendo’s legacy of surprising and delighting our longtime fans, while at the same time welcoming new players into the Nintendo family.”
