The best goalkeeper in the league, they applaud the young Czech. He shines on the worst team and heads to the NHL

They officially reminded him that he belongs among the stars. The 22-year-old Czech goalkeeper Lukáš Dostál received an invitation to the All Star Classic of the farm AHL and is increasingly talking about a permanent job in Anaheim’s main team.

In the current year, Dostál caught 27 games on the farm and with a success rate of 91.7 he belongs to the ten best goalkeepers in the league.

Considering the context, this is a sensational number. The Czech long man is catching for the San Diego Gulls, currently clearly the worst club in the AHL, having lost 29 out of 40 games. Manchaft No. 2 Olle Eriksson Ek did not even exceed 86 percent in success rate. Other substitutes are even worse off.

Dostal is catching for San Diego in his third year. He finished the previous two seasons with a similar success rate as he has now, and his teammates cannot praise him enough.

“He’s probably the best goalkeeper in the league,” he declared forward Benoit-Olivier Groulx.

No one on the California team was surprised that Dostál was nominated for the All-Star Game in February. “They picked the best goaltender in the competition, I really think so,” said head coach Roy Sommer. “He gave us a chance to win in so many games… He’s a fighter, everyone has to admit that.”

Dostál impressed the most at the turn of December and January, when he picked up two clean sheets and kept a clean sheet for a total of 152 minutes and 31 seconds, setting a new San Diego record. He surpassed the 137 minutes of star John Gibson, Anaheim’s current number one.

Twenty-nine-year-old Gibson has a contract with the Ducks for this and the next four seasons, taking up $6.4 million under the salary cap. However, due to mediocre performances in recent years and the fact that the club is undergoing a rebuild, there is speculation about his replacement.

Anaheim’s No. 2 is the same age Anthony Stolarz, whose contract expires in the summer.

Dostál could thus fully break into the NHL next season. He has already convinced the bosses that he has what it takes to be in the famous league. So far, he has caught eleven games in it, seven of them this year, when he stepped in for the injured. He impressed with his technique and calm nature.

“I think he’s done a fantastic job of showing us that he’s ready for a longer stay up there. He’s certainly then ready to be in the running for a permanent job here.” he declared Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins.

“When you have a goalkeeper from a farm, you usually get a little nervous as a coach,” he continued. “However, I had absolutely no reservations about Lukáš, neither did Sudsie (goalkeeping coach Sudarshan Maharaj, editor’s note). We just put him in the gate with the idea of getting down to business.”

Dostál finished a seven-game December save with a 90.9 percentage success rate (both Gibson and Stolarz are below 90 percent so far). He shined the most against Edmonton, when he blocked 46 of 49 shots and significantly helped the win. “Unstoppable” Connor McDavid caught seven of eight attempts.

Later, he could confidently declare: “I believe that I am a goaltender for the NHL.”

Pastrňák excelled, he was at all the goals. Bruins have the record, Cech is third in scoring

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com January 25, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Attacker David Pastrňák was the author of a goal and three assists in a 4:2 victory for the Boston hockey players in Tuesday’s NHL game in Montreal.

Thanks to his third four-point performance of the season, he moved up to third in the overseas league’s productivity chart.

David Krejčí also contributed to Tuesday’s win for the best team in the competition with a goal and an assist, and Pavel Zacha scored an assist.

Boston was losing in Montreal from the middle of the game, but thanks to the great Pastrňák, they turned the game around and became the first team in the history of the NHL to reach the eighty-point mark already in the 47th game.

The Bruins broke the record held by the teams of Montreal (in the 1943/44 season) and Philadelphia (1979/80). Both teams reached 80 points two duels later.

“The fact that we are doing so well is largely self-confidence. We keep winning, then we play much better,” explained Pastrňák.

“But at the same time, we don’t forget about hard work and we enjoy every match. In addition, we work excellently as a team, all four lines support and help each other,” the Czech striker listed the reasons for the Boston campaign.

The star forward had a great evening starting in the 35th minute, when he found Taylor Hall, who equalized at 1:1. He scored the remaining three points in the third period. First, together with Zacha, they prepared a hit for Krejčí.

“Krejča always tells me that he is in front of the goal, so I tried to throw it there and he passed the puck brilliantly past the goalkeeper. It is mainly his goal, he got a reward for talking to me,” said Pastrňák about the interplay with his Czech teammate.

In the end, he participated in Patrice Bergeron’s winning goal and scored his 37th goal of the season 49 seconds before the end of the match, when he closed the scoring with a shot into an empty net.

The native of Havířovsk scored 10 points (4+6) in the last five games and consolidated his position as the second best scorer in the NHL. He is three goals behind leader Connor McDavid.

In addition, Pastrňák made club history by becoming the ninth Bruins player to score four points on the ice of a traditional rival.

“The matches with Montreal are always intense. It doesn’t matter who is at the top of the league and who is at the bottom, everyone can adjust their form for such a duel. You don’t want to lose against the rival. I’m glad that we broke Montreal today and were able to win.” praised the Czech gunner, who was also named the first star of the match.

Palat is already shooting again

The first goal after groin surgery was scored by Ondřej Palát, who helped New Jersey to a home win over Vegas 3:2 in overtime. Goalkeeper Vítek Vaněček scored the assist for the winning goal.

Palát opened the scoring in the 4th minute and scored his fourth goal in a season marred by injury. “It’s a great feeling. I already had some chances in the previous matches, but unfortunately I didn’t take them. Today it fell there and I can be satisfied,” the two-time Stanley Cup winner sighed.

The Golden Knights turned the score around, but did not get two points. The main contribution to the Devils’ victory was Dougie Hamilton, who arranged overtime in the 59th minute and decided it in the power play. Hamilton scored thirteen goals in the season and, together with Cal Makar from Colorado, is the third highest scoring defenseman in the NHL.

Vaneček helped the Devils with 28 saves and extended his personal winning streak to eight games. He also added an assist on Hamilton’s decisive goal to a solid performance to record Canada’s second point of his overseas career.

“It’s not just about me, the boys play excellently. They defend hard and score a lot of goals. The whole team works as it should, and that’s why we win,” stated the Czech goalkeeper, who was named the second star of the match.

Hronek defeated Hertl

After a goal pass, Filip Hronek and Tomáš Hertl scored in the match against each other. After the game, defender Hronek was more satisfied, whose Detroit defeated San Jose 3:2 in overtime at home.

Detroit won the second of its last three games. Hronek was involved in the first goal of the match and with 33 points he is the most productive Czech defenseman.

Hertl scored under Tim Meier’s equalizing goal to make it 1:1, to whom the second place in scoring among Czech hockey players belongs. Andrew Copp scored the win for the Red Wings in the 25th second of overtime.

Not even 43 saves by goalkeeper Petr Mrázek helped Chicago win on the ice of Vancouver. The Canucks, under new coach Rick Tocchet, went 5-2 to score after three games. Chicago went scoreless for the second straight time and dropped to last place in the Western Conference standings.

Anaheim came off the bottom after the win in Arizona. Defenseman Cam Fowler led the 5-2 victory with two goals and one assist. In the Coyotes goal, Connor Ingram got priority over Karl Vejmelka, who conceded four times from 42 shots.

Pavel Francouz and David Rittich did not participate in the match on Tuesday’s program either. Even without the Czech goalkeeper, Colorado defeated Washington 3:2. Winnipeg lost after two wins and missed out on a chance to return to the top of the Western Conference.

Even Radko Gudas was not happy about the win. Florida couldn’t handle the shootout in Pittsburgh and lost to the Penguins 6-7 in overtime. The win for the Penguins was scored by defenseman Kris Letang, who scored four points (2+2) in the match and played the best duel of the year.

The Sharks rallied against Boston, but then Pastrňák left. He scored two goals

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com January 8, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Forward David Pastrňák scored two goals in Saturday’s NHL game to give the Boston hockey players a 4:2 victory on the San Jose ice. The Czech scorer was declared the absolute protagonist of the match for his performance, he has already scored 29 goals in the current season and is the third best scorer in the league.

Defenseman Filip Hronek assisted Detroit’s only goal in a 1:4 loss on the ice of Toronto and improved his season-high to 29 points (7+22). Goaltender Vítek Vaněček made 31 saves to help New Jersey win over the New York Rangers 4:3 in overtime.

Boston in San Jose led 2-0 after six minutes, but the home team managed to equalize. Pastrňák then took the fate of the game in hand, who was the first to use a power play in the 37th minute and scored a second time in the 9th minute of the third period.

Check out David Pastrňák’s goals:

The Bruins win for the third time in a row, mainly thanks to the Czech striker and Brad Marchand’s three points (1+2) and bring to thirteen games in which they have scored at least one point. Leading the Eastern Conference and the entire NHL, Boston is already nine points ahead of second-ranked Carolina.

Two Bruins goals were set up by captain Patrice Bergeron, who scored 1,013th career point and replaced the legendary Phil Esposito for third on the club’s all-time list. “It’s a special act. After all, the players lined up around Patrice are legends of the club and the entire NHL,” said Bruins coach Jim Montgomery.

Detroit started actively in Toronto, clearly outscoring the opponent 8:2 in the first period and taking a well-deserved lead at the end of the 12th minute. Hronek pushed the puck to Olli Määtä in his own backcourt, who with an excellent pass to the offensive blue line sent penalty box defender Jake Walman into flight, who ended the unusual collaboration of three defenders with a shot Ilji Samsonov’s goal post to left.

Just after 24 seconds into the second period, Mitchell Marner tied it on a power play. The Maple Leafs goal started and took the lead. In the 27th minute, John Tavares scored the opening goal, which sealed the victory at the end.

Marner finished the game with a goal and an assist for his 500th point in his 467th NHL start. “It’s a beautiful moment. Of course, I think mainly about the team’s results, but I really appreciate this achievement. It’s even more precious to me because I grew up here and was a Maple Leafs fan from an early age. But we don’t have to settle, there are goals most important things ahead of us,” Marner said. Only Austin Matthews has passed the 500-point mark faster in club history, he did it four days ago in his 445th game.

In the third part of the traditional match against the Rangers, the Devils overcame a two-goal deficit, which was equalized thanks to Jesper Bratt and Jack Hughes, and in extra time thanks to Damon Severson’s goal, they came from 1:3. Vaněček led the team to victory in the third game he started and earned his 15th overall win of the season. Thanks to his performances, the Devils are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Carolina failed for the third time in a row, surprisingly losing on ice to Columbus, the worst team in the Eastern Conference, 3:4 after separate raids. The main contribution to the victory of the Blue Jackets was played by Russian striker Kirill Marchenko, who scored the first hat-trick in the 15th game of the NHL. Czech striker Martin Nečas went out without points after seven games. In the final series, he failed to convert a solo run and confirmed the Hurricanes’ third straight loss.

Kevin Fiala also shone with three goals, helping Los Angeles to a 5:1 victory over Las Vegas with his first hat-trick at his new job. The Kings beat the Western Conference leaders for the second time in a row and are just four points behind them in third place.

Not even Tim Stützle’s three goals prevented Ottawa’s home debacle with Seattle. Kraken hockey players defeated the Senators 8:4, won for the fourth time in a row and moved to fifth place in the Western Conference standings. The team from the Canadian capital failed after two victories and remained in thirteenth position in the Eastern Conference.

An 11-goal shootout was offered by Buffalo’s game with Minnesota, in which the home Sabers won overtime and won 6:5. Defender Rasmus Dahlin sealed the win with two goals and three assists, with 44 points the third most productive of the year so far. Buffalo has won eight of its last nine games and is just four points away from the playoff berth.

After five games, defending champions Colorado pulled it off. The Avalanche turned the game around in Edmonton, winning 3-2 in overtime to leapfrog to ninth in the Western Conference. The Oilers are eighth by two points. Czech forward Martin Kaut played three and a half minutes for Colorado.

New Jersey – NY Rangers 4:3 in overtime. (0:1, 1:2, 2:0 – 1:0)

Zacha, Krejčí, Pastrňák. Czech interaction excited Boston again, but Boston only took one point

Czech hockey players in Boston jerseys entertained the NHL, but in the end their team took only one point from their home match against Buffalo. The Bruins lost in overtime 3-4.

In the 14th minute, the Czech trio from Boston performed a wonderful interplay. Pavel Zacha aimed the puck at David Krejčí, who drew a pass down the wing to his namesake Pastrňák, and the Bruins’ scorer opened the scoring without preparation.

A great action brought the Havířov native to his 25th goal of the season.

The visitors equalized before the first break, even turned the score around in the second half, but faced overwhelming pressure from Boston’s offense in the final half.

The Bears pressed and got the tie on the power play. Pastrňák’s two quick shots in a row did not end up on goal, but Patrice Bergeron was quick to score.

Then the Czechs ruled again. Krejčí moved the puck to Pastrňák, who with a wonderful pass found a solitary Brad Marchand on the blue line and finished the break unerringly.

Boston was ahead again, moreover, six and a half minutes before the end, the guests were awarded a penalty for 2+2 minutes, and after three seconds another two minutes. It looked like the Bruins had the game firmly in hand and another win was in the offing.

But the Bruins did not take advantage of the big chances, Buffalo withstood a two-minute double run down and subsequent overpowering by the hosts and entered the game without a goalkeeper.

Pastrňák could have decided with an empty cage, but defender Rasmus Dahlin, as a last resort, stopped his attempt and immediately played a play, after which Dylan Cozens equalised.

Even in extra time the Czech gunner could have been a hero. An excellent opportunity opened up before him, but Pastrňák did not combine speed and control of the puck. And 67 seconds before the end, Alex Tuch decided on the other side.

Despite the loss, Boston dominates the entire competition.
