ECCOโฃ Presents aโข Dynamic Concert Season
The Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra (ECCO) โis gearing up for a compelling concert season, showcasing both familiar masterpieces and lesser-known gems. This season promises a journey through diverse musical landscapes, highlighting the talents of both โcelebrated composers and rising stars.
one highlight will be a performance featuring music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. His โขopera, The Marriage โof Figaro, initially faced political scrutiny, requiring revisions by court poet Lorenzo Da Ponte. โขThe opera’s overture,โข a โvibrant and instantly recognizable piece in D major,โข has become aโ cultural touchstone, appearing in films like The King’s Speech, Pride and Prejudice (1995), and Willy Wonka โand the Chocolate Factory.
The program alsoโค features the work of Juan Crisotomo Arriaga (1806-1826), a Spanishโ composer oftenโ called “The Spanish Mozart” due toโ his shared birthday and prodigious talent. Arriaga’s Symphony in D, โcomposed during โhis short life, โขuniquely blends majorโ and minor keys and incorporates Basque musical influences, pioneering a nationalistic style in โค19th-century music. Despite his tragically early death at age nineteen, Arriaga left a lasting impact.
Performing alongside ECCO will be acclaimed violinist Christine Harada Li. Dr.Li โboastsโ an extraordinary international career as a performer, educator, and arts leader, having performed across the globe with numerous orchestras and at prestigious music festivals. She is alsoโ a dedicated chamber musician, frequently performing with theโข Koinonia Trio, and has held leadership positions within several arts organizations.Dr. Li’s extensive education includes degrees fromโข the University of Michigan and theโ Hochschule fรผr Musik, โTheater und Medien in Hannover, Germany.
