Sales of the track doubled in the latest tracking period, according to Luminate, with over 2,800 copies sold in the U.S. compared to 1,400 the week prior.
The renewed interest propelled “Thriller” from No. 17 to No.7 on the Digital Song Sales chart,nearing its previous peak position of No. 1. The song also landed at No. 2 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and R&B streaming Songs tallies. Megan Thee Stallion’s “Lover Girl” and Kehlani currently hold the top spots on those respective charts.
Beyond digital sales, “Thriller” also secured positions within the top 10 on the Hot R&B Songs (No. 4) and hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (No. 5) lists. Jackson’s presence extends to Billboard’s global charts, with ”Thriller” reappearing on both the Hot 100 and Streaming songs rankings, as well as the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S.lists.
The resurgence wasn’t limited to “Thriller.” Jackson’s ”Billie Jean,” also from the Thriller album, returned to the R&B/hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart and achieved new peaks on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts.
While the Halloween-driven boost is important, industry observers anticipate Jackson’s chart positions will likely recede after the holiday season concludes.however, the enduring appeal of Thriller continues to demonstrate its status as a cultural touchstone.
