Oerlinghausen Marketing Association’s Eventful Year in 2023: Achievements and Future Plans

Oerlinghausen (din). The “Oerlinghausen Marketing” association has managed a very eventful year in 2023. Chairman Patrick Piecha spoke of an “enormous density of events” compared to other cities during the annual meeting on Friday evening in the community center. In addition, the volunteer board developed numerous activities that were not publicly visible.

The association, founded in 2016, has set itself the goal of “presenting the mountain town with all its facets in a positive way to the outside world”. In particular, civic engagement should be supported. The summer night and the “Colorful Lights Stroll Evening” were organized in collaboration with the advertising community. The UrLand Festival, the Vineyard Festival and the BergstadtAdvent also took place. “The cultural program on the town hall square was very well attended during the summer holidays,” said Piecha. Around 2,000 guests were counted at the seven concerts.

The association also took care of technically revising the website and creating an image film. The “Life Forest” project was started in collaboration with the municipal utilities. A tree is planted here for every newborn child. New souvenirs with urban motifs were purchased and the city administration was supported. Finally, the association in Währentrup made it possible to purchase Herrnhut stars, so that lighting can now be installed in all parts of the city during the Christmas season.

The OerliPlus app will be further developed this year, as Piecha announced. This free online offer provides a wealth of information. The online shop will be activated on the website, the “Freifunk” offers will be expanded and activities on social media will be intensified. The chairman named expanding cooperation with local clubs as a strategic goal. “We don’t all have to be lone wolves,” he said.

The dates of the events have already been set. On April 13th, garbage will be collected in all parts of the city under the motto “Bergstadt-Putz”. Between July 11th and August 8th, the town hall square will once again become a cultural stage. Live music is offered free of charge every Thursday. The UrLandfest is celebrated from August 16th to 18th. The vineyard festival follows from September 13th to 15th. The “BergstadtAdvent” Christmas market is planned for December 6th to 8th.

At the events, Oerlinghausen Marketing can rely on a “great cooperation” with the catering company “BergStadtGarten”, said Piecha. However, the preparation and follow-up of the festivals and celebrations involve considerable effort. “We have high quality standards,” said the chairman. “However, it is becoming more difficult to maintain the current offer of purely voluntary work. We need further support.”

Mayor Dirk Becker, who is a member of the association’s board by virtue of his office, also made an appeal to the meeting. “We need more helpers to help with the events,” he said. Becker emphatically thanked the new board elected a year ago for their commitment.

“I am very happy that we were able to attract a young, professionally trained chairman in Patrick Piecha,” said the mayor. He was very committed. “We can look to the future with confidence.”

Bielefeld. Paderborn Draws SC Freiburg in DFB Cup Second Round: Away Game against Bundesliga Club Await

Paderborn/Dortmund. Shkodran Mustafi drew the second round of the DFB Cup on Sunday evening on “ARD-Sportschau”. But the 2014 world champion didn’t bring SC Paderborn any luck in the draw at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. The OWL second division team caught an away game against a first division team. A long journey awaits the SCP, as the Paderborn team is playing at SC Freiburg. The game will be played on Tuesday, October 31st or Wednesday, November 1st.

“Playing away to a Bundesliga club is always a difficult task. Freiburg has done a lot right in recent years and can therefore be a role model for up-and-coming clubs. We are looking forward to the challenging task,” says SCP sports director Benjamin Weber, commenting on the cup ticket.

The SCP will then have a lot of travel stress in an English week anyway. Reason: On the last weekend in October, coach Lukas Kwasniok’s team will be visiting Hertha BSC Berlin. Then we go to Freiburg. And on the first weekend in November, the Paderborn team has to play against Karlsruher SC. Both league games, like the cup game, have not yet been exactly scheduled.

The last duel went to Paderborn

After all: The SCP doesn’t have any bad memories of guest appearances in Freiburg. Paderborn have already celebrated three wins in six away games in Breisgau. Even in the last duel so far, the East Westphalia team retained the upper hand. The SCP won 2-0 in Freiburg on January 25, 2020. It was also the last win in the 2019/20 Bundesliga relegation season.

With their move into the second round, the Paderborn team will already receive DFB bonuses amounting to almost 650,000 euros. There would be a further 862,400 euros for the round of 16 qualification. Should Paderborn make it to the quarter-finals, as they did in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, the second division team would even be guaranteed bonuses totaling 3.23 million euros.

The 2nd DFB Cup round at a glance:

SC Freiburg – SC Paderborn

Viktoria Cologne – Eintracht Frankfurt

Arminia Bielefeld – Hamburger SV

FC Homburg – SpVgg Greuther Furth

SpVgg Unterhaching – Fortuna Dusseldorf

SV Sandhausen – Bayer 04 Leverkusen

1. FC Saarbruecken – FC Bayern Munich

FC St. Pauli – FC Schalke 04

1. FC Nuremberg – FC Hansa Rostock

Borussia Mönchengladbach – 1. FC Heidenheim

Holstein Kiel – 1. FC Magdeburg

VfB Stuttgart – 1. FC Union Berlin

Hertha BSC Berlin – FSV Mainz 05

Borussia Dortmund – TSG Hoffenheim

VfL Wolfsburg – RB Leipzig

1. FC Kaiserslautern – 1. FC Cologne

(Games on Tuesday, October 31st and Wednesday, November 1st)

The “huge investment backlog” is at the expense of regional competitiveness and the establishment of new jobs.

Sep 14, 2023 | As of September 14, 2023, 12:47 p.m

Düsseldorf (dpa). Broken roads and bridges, dilapidated schools, underfunded hospitals, lack of housing and climate protection: According to a study commissioned by the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB NRW), North Rhine-Westphalia would have to invest 156 billion euros over the next ten years to make the country future-proof. There is a “huge investment backlog” in North Rhine-Westphalia, which is at the expense of regional competitiveness and the establishment of new jobs, said DGB state chairwoman Anja Weber on Thursday at the presentation of the study in Düsseldorf.

The Drummer Corps Kirchborchen Takes Part in the Steuben Parade: A Celebration of German-American Friendship

The Drummer Corps Kirchborchen Takes Part in the Steuben Parade: A Celebration of German-American Friendship

Borchen. Since it was re-established in 1950, the Drummer Corps Kirchborchen has done a lot. In order to keep up the club spirit, many joint events such as retreats, rehearsal weekends or the summer party open to all friends are organized. In 1994, however, there was a very special excursion – the musicians from Kirchborchen took part in the Steuben Parade in the USA. It is the biggest celebration of German-American friendship.

The German-American Steuben Parade is a traditional parade held every year in the metropolises of New York, Chicago and Philadelphia. The parade was named after Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, a Prussian general who emigrated to the USA in 1777, revolutionized the army there and played a key role in the American War of Independence under George Washington.

Since 1994, the drummer corps has taken part in the Steuben parades in various cities five times and then traveled around the country. After the last trip ended with a tour through the Midwest in 2017, the sixth trip to America is now scheduled for September 14th to 26th. After taking part in the Steuben Parade in New York, the Canadian border is crossed after a stay in Boston. After stops in Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Huntsville and Niagara Falls, the drummer corps will fly back via Toronto. Among the 50 participants are active minstrels, their partners and friends of the club.

Lyres must be carried as special baggage

“Of course, carrying out such an extensive club trip requires a lot of planning and organization,” says Lennard Thiele from the drummer corps. In addition to the general formalities, such as ESTA registration (visa-free travel), joint activities on site and participation in the parade would have to be agreed with those responsible. As a special feature this time, the Kirchborchener don’t carry drums and kettledrums as special luggage, but get them from a rental company in New Jersey.

The drum corps also take part in the Oompah Festival at Plattduetsche Park, Queens. “The financial burden also poses a challenge: drums and kettledrums are hired, the lyres have to be carried on the plane as expensive special luggage due to their individual pitch. We are therefore all the more pleased that we have found a total of 20 sponsors who support us with small and large amounts,” said Thiele.
