Astros โคto reinstate Luis Garcia from 60-Day โIL on Monday
HOUSTON – The Houstonโข Astros are set to activate right-handed โpitcher Luis garcia from โthe 60-day injured listโ on Monday, adding a โkey arm to their playoff push. Garcia has been โsidelined since spring training due to a โคright elbow strain that required Tommy John โฃsurgery.
Garcia,a key contributorโ to Houston’s โขrecent success, emerged as a regular rotation member in 2021,finishing second in american League Rookie of the Yearโ voting โwith a 3.48 ERA over 155 1/3 innings. He followed that up with a โฃstrong 2022 campaign, posting a 3.72 ERA across 157 1/3 innings as the Astros won the World Series. โฃWhile โขhis postseason ERA standsโ at 5.79 over 23 1/3 innings, he has delivered crucial performances, โคincluding 5 2/3 scoreless innings in Houston’s 2021โค ALCS clincher against the Boston โRed Sox.
Theโ Astrosโ currentlyโฃ have a rotationโ anchored by Hunter Brown and Framber valdez.โค Cristian Javier hasโค made fourโ startsโข following his own Tommy John rehab, and Spencer Arrighetti โhas pitched โwell in his recentโฃ outings after recovering from a brokenโ thumb. โฃJason Alexander has also beenโ effective, โthough the team views โhim as a potential swingmanโ in the playoffs. Rookie Brandon Walter,โฃ who was excellent inโ nine starts before being sidelined by elbow inflammation, isโ not eligible to return until late September. The โadditionโ of โGarcia comes โafter Lance McCullers Jr. was recently moved to the bullpen.
