Shohei Ohtani’s Historic Performance: 3 Home Runs, Shutout in Dodgers’ NLCS Victory

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor October 18, 2025
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

MILWAUKEE⁣ – Shohei Ohtani delivered⁤ a historic performance for the Los angeles Dodgers in ‍Game 4 ⁢of the National League Championship Series‍ on Tuesday, hitting three‌ home runs ‌and striking out 10 batters over six scoreless innings in a dominant 9-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Ohtani became the first player in MLB postseason history to ⁢achieve both a three-homer game and double-digit strikeouts in the same contest.

The Dodgers now lead the best-of-seven series⁤ 3-1, moving ‌within one win of thier first World Series appearance as 2020. Ohtani’s performance considerably⁤ boosts Los Angeles’s⁣ championship aspirations and solidifies his status as a leading contender for⁤ postseason MVP honors. A Dodgers win in Game 5 would send them to ⁢the World Series to face either the Texas Rangers or the ‍Houston Astros.

Ohtani showcased his two-way prowess ‌early, launching a solo home run‌ in the first inning. He added two more-a two-run shot⁤ in ⁢the third and another solo blast in the fifth-bringing his⁣ postseason home run total to five. On the mound, he limited the Brewers to five hits, consistently⁤ overpowering hitters with⁣ a fastball reaching 93 mph and a sharp slider. He threw a season-high 91 ⁢pitches.

“It’s always a little advantage⁤ (to the) pitcher when they haven’t ⁣seen you⁤ before,” Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy said, acknowledging the challenge⁢ of facing Ohtani for⁣ the first time for most of his lineup. “But they’re 170 games ‌in. They‍ understand ⁣that you’re not facing Shohei, ‍you’re facing the⁣ ball.”

Prior to⁢ Tuesday, onyl three Brewers players had⁢ ever ‍faced⁤ Ohtani as a pitcher. ⁤The Dodgers’ ‍pitching staff has been a major strength throughout ⁢the postseason,⁤ with Los ⁢Angeles starters ‍allowing just 10 earned runs in ⁢58 1/3 innings across nine⁣ games. Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, ‍and ‍Ohtani have combined for 71 strikeouts in that‍ span.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts also had⁢ rookie reliever Roki ‌Sasaki available in the‍ bullpen, potentially for a second consecutive appearance.Sasaki has been effective in the ⁢playoffs, allowing ⁢just two hits and one run in seven innings of relief⁣ across six games, earning three ‍saves.

Brewers Ban Fans Over ‘Call ICE’ Threat at Dodgers Game

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor October 17, 2025

Milwaukee Brewers⁣ Ban Fans Involved in ‘Call ICE’ Incident from ‌Stadium

Milwaukee, WI – The Milwaukee Brewers have banned two fans involved in ⁣an ‍altercation during an NLCS game at American Family Field, the team announced. ⁢The incident stemmed from a confrontation captured on video and widely circulated online.

According too a team statement, ⁤Milwaukee Police ejected one fan for disorderly‍ conduct and public intoxication,‍ unrelated to the⁤ events depicted in the video. The ⁣statement further noted the other individual involved became physically aggressive. Both fans are ⁤now prohibited from attending⁤ future events at the ballpark.

The incident⁢ began when Ricardo Fosado, a Los Angeles resident and U.S. citizen who served in the Navy from 2001-05,⁤ including deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq, ⁣began ‌recording Milwaukee ‍fans and questioning their lack of vocal support. Shannon Kobylarczyk responded⁢ with a vulgar comment and then told⁤ a ⁢fellow Brewers fan ⁢to “call ICE,” referring to U.S.Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Fosado, of Mexican heritage, was subsequently removed from the ⁣stadium after ‍being reported⁢ to security by Kobylarczyk. He told ‌the Milwaukee Journal‌ Sentinel the exchange involved “banter back and forth” ‌that he didn’t consider disrespectful.

Kobylarczyk was later fired from ‌her job with ManpowerGroup and resigned from her position on the Wisconsin board‌ of directors at Make-A-Wish. Despite ‍the incident, Fosado expressed sympathy ⁣for Kobylarczyk, telling the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he didn’t believe she should have lost her job.

“I feel bad for her,” Fosado said.‍ He also stated he had a positive overall experience at the game, adding, “I had a grate experience and⁤ everybody was really friendly and welcoming. So I don’t take that one incident and‌ label the whole ‍entire day ‍bad.”

Shohei Ohtani’s Struggles Against Lefties Could Cost Dodgers

by David Harrison – Chief Editor October 13, 2025
written by David Harrison – Chief Editor

Dodgers‘⁢ Ohtani Needs ⁢Offensive Reset Ahead of NLCS⁢ Matchup ⁣with ⁢Brewers

MILWAUKEE⁢ – los Angeles Dodgers manager⁢ Dave Roberts ‍indicated Shohei Ohtani requires‌ an offensive “recalibration” following a largely unproductive NLDS performance against the⁣ Philadelphia⁢ Phillies. Ohtani struggled at the plate, going 3-for-15 with‌ limited impact, while the phillies effectively ⁣exploited‌ vulnerabilities in his swing decisions. The ‍Dodgers face the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 1 of the NLCS on Monday.

Roberts observed ‌Ohtani ⁣appeared “in between a little bit,” stating after Game 3, “But the ⁢swing ⁢decisions are ‍just not⁤ where⁤ they need to be right now.” The issues, Roberts explained Saturday, ⁣originated with pitching matchups and developed ⁤into detrimental⁣ habits, allowing the Phillies to dictate ‍the game plan.

Ohtani’s⁣ frist at-bat against Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sánchez exemplified the problem. ⁤He swung and missed at three consecutive pitches – a first-pitch sinker followed by two changeups – and⁣ struck out. Sánchez’s changeup proved⁣ notably challenging; Ohtani swung and missed 17 times in 34 swings against left-handed changeups during the⁢ regular season, including eight from ⁣Sánchez and⁤ 11 overall from Phillies pitchers.

The Phillies ⁢also capitalized on a⁣ trend observed by Roberts: shorter at-bats on days⁣ Ohtani pitches.⁤ During the⁣ regular season,Ohtani hit‍ .222 (12-for-54) with four home runs in 14 ⁣games he ⁢started on the mound. He was hitless in four ⁣at-bats while pitching ‍six‍ innings in Game 1 of the NLDS. “He’s probably trying ⁤to conserve‍ energy,‌ not trying⁣ to get into at-bats,” Roberts ‍said. “It hasn’t been good ⁣when he’s pitched. I do ⁢think that’s part of it. We’ve got to think through this and come up with ‌a better game ⁣plan.”

The Dodgers are drawing parallels to Ohtani’s 2023 postseason ‍experience. He struggled in the 2023 ‍NLDS against⁢ the San Diego Padres,‍ hitting 4-for-20, but rebounded in the NLCS against the New‍ York Mets, batting .364 (8-for-22) with two home runs and a 1.185 OPS.

Roberts anticipates opponents will continue to feature left-handed pitching ‌against Ohtani. “Certainly, whatever opponent we face, they’re gonna try to put as many lefties on ‍Shohei,” he said. “But hoping⁣ that he‍ can do a⁣ little self-reflecting on that series. And how aggressive he was outside of⁣ the strike zone, passive in the zone – just the⁢ at-bat‍ quality ⁣needs to⁣ get⁤ better.” He added, “We’re counting ⁢on a‍ recalibration, getting back into the strike zone and understanding when he faces left-handed pitching ⁤what they’re gonna try⁣ to do.”

Ohtani Delivers on Dodgers‘ vision in Historic Postseason Win

PHILADELPHIA, ‍PA – October 4,⁣ 2025 – Shohei Ohtani ⁢showcased his two-way dominance, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in the Division Series at Citizens Bank Park. While his hitting wasn’t at ⁣its peak, Ohtani’s pitching performance proved pivotal in turning the tide of⁢ the game, solidifying the Dodgers’ belief in his unique skillset. (Photo by Emilee Chinn/Getty Images)

The Phillies ⁣jumped to a 3-0 lead, highlighted ‌by a two-run triple ‌from J.T. Realmuto. They‌ continued to threaten in the⁣ fifth inning, loading⁤ runners on first and second with one out after Ohtani ⁤hit Harrison ‍Bader and Bryson Stott⁢ followed with a single. Phillies manager Rob Thomson strategically placed ⁤Bader and Stott in the 8-9 spots in the‍ batting order to set the table for Trea Turner and Kyle schwarber.

Ohtani ⁢responded by inducing a lineout from ⁢Turner and then striking out Schwarber with‍ a curveball ‌- a pitch he⁢ uses less than 9% of the time, according to Baseball Savant data. Dodgers manager Dave‍ Roberts ‌demonstrated unwavering confidence in Ohtani, keeping him in the game as no Dodgers pitcher warmed up in the bullpen.

“I‍ just felt that he ‍was just getting better as the ⁢night whent on,” Roberts said. “I thought he was the best option, and nothing that I was ⁤seeing showed a dropoff. And ‍so, if he could chew up a couple more innings, I thought it would help us tonight and the games ‌going forward.”

After being relieved⁤ by Tyler Glasnow -⁢ signaling the Dodgers’ intention to utilize starters as ‌relievers – Ohtani continued to contribute to the team’s strategy. In the top of the ‍ninth inning, he noticeably slowed his⁢ walk to⁢ the plate and unexpectedly showed a bunt, despite having ⁤no sacrifice ‌hits in 4,329 regular season at-bats.

Ohtani ⁤revealed his intention was to buy time ⁢for closer Roki Sasaki to warm up. “I was told by Dave Roberts to make some time‌ for Roki pitching in the bullpen, warming up. So I did,” Ohtani said through his translator, ‍adding with a grin, “I wanted to do everything‌ in my power to make sure we got ample time for him.”

Sasaki pitched a‍ scoreless ninth inning, completing a⁢ historic night.According to Sarah Langs, this marked ⁣only the second postseason game in MLB history with a Japanese duo earning both the win and the save.

For Ohtani, the victory ⁢was about fulfilling⁢ the Dodgers’ vision for him ‍as an elite ⁣two-way player. “Yeah, the reason why I’m a two-way ⁤player is because that’s who I am and it’s what I can do,and ⁣also,at the ⁤same time,it’s what the team wants,” Ohtani explained.”So that’s the reason why I’ve been doing this.”

Dodgers vs. Reds: MLB Playoff Economic Divide

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor October 1, 2025
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Dodgers‘ $509 Million Payroll Faces Reds‘ ⁣$121 Million‍ in Postseason Clash

Los Angeles will ⁤begin⁢ it’s postseason journey against Cincinnati, a stark contrast in financial commitment‌ playing out on the October stage. the Dodgers, with total spending of $509 million-comprising a $301.5 million payroll ⁢and⁤ $207.5 million in luxury tax-will face the Reds, whose spending totals $121 million with a $103.9 million payroll and $17.1 million in tax.

The disparity highlights the ⁣growing financial gap in Major League Baseball, ⁢a dynamic ‌fueling⁤ debate over potential changes to the sport’s economic ⁤system. With the current collective bargaining agreement expiring in December 2026, some owners are pushing for a salary cap, a proposal⁤ consistently resisted by players, raising the possibility of the sport’s 10th‌ work stoppage since 1972.This series offers a visible illustration of the competitive landscape as it currently exists, where high payrolls don’t guarantee postseason ‍success, but provide meaningful resources.

Across MLB,total postseason spending reveals wide ranges. Philadelphia is fourth-highest at $347.7‍ million, with a $291.7 million payroll and $55.9 ⁤million in forecast tax. The ⁣New York Yankees are third at $363.3 million, with $301.5 million in payroll⁢ and $61.8 million ‌in tax, facing the Boston Red Sox,who spent just under $199.6 million with a $198 million payroll and a little ‌more than $1.5 million in tax.

San Diego ($224.1 million in spending) is matched against the Chicago Cubs‌ ($211.8 million),while Toronto ($266 million) also begins its playoff run. Milwaukee ($124.8 million) and Seattle ($167.2 million) were ⁢the only teams with first-round byes that remained under the luxury tax threshold. Cleveland, at ⁢$103.9 million, has the‌ lowest ‌payroll among playoff teams and will play Detroit ($162.6 million).

Award bonuses, which will impact final payroll figures, won’t be calculated until after the World Series.
