Title: Jon Sumrall Emerging as Florida’s Next Head Coach Candidate

by Emma Walker – News Editor November 29, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

GAINESVILLE, Fla.(AP) - The ‌University of Florida ‌is targeting Tulane coach Jon Sumrall as its⁣ next head football coach, a person with knowledge of the search said Friday. The move comes after Florida fired Billy Napier in mid-October following a 22-23⁢ record ⁣over four seasons.

Sumrall, who has led ⁤Tulane to a 25-4 record over three seasons,‌ would represent a shift in ⁣direction for the ⁢Gators, who had‍ also ⁤pursued other‌ high-profile candidates like Louisville’s Jeff⁣ Brohm and washington’s Jedd Fisch.Florida athletic director Scott⁣ Stricklin‌ is seeking a ‌coach ⁣to revitalize a program that has struggled in the⁤ Southeastern⁣ Conference, where Napier earned the nickname “Sun ‍Belt Billy” for perceived ⁣shortcomings⁣ against tougher competition. The pursuit of Sumrall unfolded ⁤rapidly after⁣ Lane Kiffin opted to remain at Ole Miss rather of taking the Florida job. Kiffin had been a top target for Florida fans, and his decision created a competitive situation with LSU,‍ ultimately leading him to choose ‍between the Rebels and the⁤ Tigers. sumrall’s candidacy ‍emerged as Kiffin neared his decision.

Title: No. 16 Texas Stuns No. 3 Texas A&M in SEC Championship Bid

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor November 29, 2025
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

COLLEGE STATION, texas ⁤(AP) – No. 16 Texas extinguished No. 3 Texas A&M‘s undefeated season⁣ with a 27-17 victory on Saturday, simultaneously dashing the Aggies‘ hopes for an SEC Championship Game berth. The longhorns’ second-half surge spoiled a previously perfect campaign for Texas A&M and injected uncertainty into⁣ the College Football Playoff picture.

The loss eliminates Texas A&M from contention for the SEC title and casts doubt on their College Football Playoff aspirations. Texas, meanwhile, bolstered its bowl game prospects with a dominant performance fueled by‍ a ‍resurgent running game. The Aggies now await the final ‌CFP rankings on Dec. 7, while Texas eyes‍ its bowl‍ destination, also‌ factoring in ‍the CFP rankings.

Texas took control in the‌ second half, spearheaded by a rushing attack that had struggled for much ⁢of the season. Quintrevion Wisner led the charge with a season-high 155 ⁣yards, adding to his extraordinary 186-yard performance against the Aggies ‌last year.

Texas A&M quarterback Max Reed briefly left the game in the first quarter after rolling his left ankle ⁢during ‍a scramble. He returned after missing only one offensive play, but the ⁢Aggies’‌ ensuing⁤ drive ⁣stalled, culminating in a blocked field goal attempt by Texas’‌ Ethan Burke.

“Their front played a ⁢lot harder⁤ than ours,” Reed said. “They just had a better game plan in the second half for us.”

The Aggies had previously held a lead, ⁤but three consecutive punts in the decisive⁤ third quarter allowed Texas to seize momentum.

Georgia election case against Trump dismissed

by David Harrison – Chief Editor November 27, 2025
written by David Harrison – Chief Editor

ATLANTA (May 17, 2024) – The georgia election interference case against former President Donald Trump was dismissed Friday, marking a notable growth in the sprawling legal challenges facing him. The case, built on allegations that Trump and his allies illegally attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in georgia, ends after months of legal battles and controversy surrounding the prosecution.

The dismissal stems from disqualification of Fulton County District Attorney Fani willis from the case due to a conflict of interest. Willis‘s personal relationship wiht special prosecutor Nathan Wade prompted allegations of impropriety, leading to a court review. While a judge initially allowed Willis to remain on the case if Wade resigned – which he did – the Georgia Court of Appeals ultimately removed Willis in December 2024.The Georgia Supreme Court later declined to hear Willis’s appeal, effectively ending her involvement.

The inquiry, launched in 2021, resulted in indictments against Trump and 18 co-defendants, including Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows. The charges included racketeering, conspiracy, and solicitation of election fraud. Willis argued the defendants engaged in a criminal enterprise to unlawfully change the outcome of the election.

Throughout the proceedings, defense attorneys aggressively challenged the case, focusing on the alleged conflict of interest between Willis and Wade. They presented evidence of financial benefits Wade received during the period he was leading the prosecution, arguing it created an unethical and disqualifying situation. Willis and Wade both testified and disputed the allegations, maintaining their professional conduct.

Following Willis’s removal, the case was taken over by prosecutor Robert McBurney. The dismissal effectively halts any further prosecution in Fulton County, though federal investigations related to the 2020 election continue. The outcome significantly impacts the legal landscape surrounding Trump as he campaigns for a second term in office.

Title: Colorado Rejects Transfer of Election Conspiracy Clerk to Federal Prison

by Emma Walker – News Editor November 27, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

Colorado officials stated Wednesday they do not intend to transfer former Mesa County ‌Clerk Tina Peters to federal custody, despite a request from federal authorities. The decision comes amid ‍ongoing concerns from Colorado county clerks who fear Peters’ potential testimony‍ could further erode trust in the stateS election system.

Peters, a vocal proponent of unsubstantiated claims⁣ of election fraud, faces federal charges related to a security breach‍ of Mesa County’s voting equipment. County clerks across the political spectrum have expressed⁣ concern that a transfer to federal control would⁣ allow Peters to publicly disseminate her⁣ claims without state oversight, perhaps endangering election workers ⁢and undermining confidence in future elections.

John Case, another attorney representing Peters, ⁤said Colorado officials appear to want to keep her incarcerated in state⁣ prison “where she‍ cannot testify or speak publicly” about computer voting software.

The Colorado County ⁢Clerks Association has urged Gov. Jared Polis to reject the federal transfer request. Matt Crane, the association’s executive director, noted the state corrections department ultimately operates under the governor’s ‍direction.

A spokesperson for Gov. Polis,Shelby wieman, released a statement Tuesday praising the integrity of Colorado’s election system and stating the governor welcomes ‌a meeting with clerks regarding the transfer request, but did not directly ‍address whether it would be approved.Wieman added, “Governor Polis takes his responsibilities seriously and has been clear that he ⁢will take threats from the federal government head-on – especially when they undermine our democracy.”

Crane expressed dissatisfaction⁢ with a recent statement from the Department of ‍Corrections, stating it‍ did not alleviate ‌the clerks’ concerns. The situation‍ remains fluid as‌ Colorado officials weigh the implications‌ of transferring Peters to‌ federal custody.

Voter ID Myths Debunked: Musk’s Claims vs. Reality in NY & CA

by Priya Shah – Business Editor November 27, 2025
written by Priya Shah – Business Editor

Elon Musk Misleads on Voter ID Requirements in California, New york

Elon Musk⁤ falsely ⁣claimed on social media that New York and California require voter ID, a statement ⁣contradicted by ⁤election officials and voting laws in both states. Musk’s post, which included an image comparing U.S.⁢ voter ID rules to those of other countries,‍ has recirculated amid ongoing debates about election integrity and access to the ballot box.

California automatically mails ballots to ⁢all active registered voters, and in the 2024 general election,80.76% of voters utilized this method. Some California counties offer no in-person voting options at all. Voters in ⁣New York are not required to present identification at polling places, though frist-time voters who registered by mail must provide proof of identity. Musk’s post highlighted a list of 114 ‌countries with voter ID requirements, marking the U.S. with a‌ red “x” despite exceptions to strict ID laws within the country.

The image accompanying Musk’s post incorrectly implied worldwide ID requirements across ⁢the globe. While many‌ nations listed do mandate identification, New Zealand and Australia are exceptions. New Zealand allows voter registration via‍ signed enrollment forms without⁣ ID, ⁢and does not ‌require ID at the polls. Australian voters similarly‌ do not need ID to cast a ballot, and can have their identity confirmed by a registered voter during enrollment.

Representatives for Musk have not responded ⁣to requests for comment regarding the inaccuracies in his post. ‍The claim’s spread underscores the potential ‍for misinformation to influence public discourse surrounding voting rights⁣ and election procedures, particularly ⁤as the 2024 election cycle continues.
