Disney channels Remain Dark on YouTube TV as Contract Dispute Continues
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – November 3, 2025 - A carriage dispute between Disney and YouTube TV has resulted in the removal of 18 Disney-owned channels from the streaming platform, impacting access to live sports, news, and entertainment for millions of subscribers. The channels pulled include ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel, FX, and National Geographic, among others.
The blackout,which began today,affects YouTube TV subscribers across the United States.The core of the disagreement centers on contract negotiations, with both companies publicly stating they are seeking a fair agreement. For viewers, the timing is especially impactful as it coincides with an off-year election day on Tuesday, November 4th, leaving some without access to local ABC affiliate news coverage. Approximately 8.6 million people subscribe to YouTube TV as of Q3 2025, making this a significant disruption for cord-cutters relying on the service for live television.
Disney has publicly requested YouTube TV restore access to ABC specifically for Election Day, stating, “Despite the impasse that lead to the current blackout, we have asked YouTube TV to restore ABC for Election Day so subscribers have access to the details they rely on,” according to a statement provided to USA TODAY. “We believe in putting the public interest first and hope YouTube TV will take this small step for their customers while we continue to work toward a fair agreement.”
youtube TV has responded by offering subscribers a $20 credit if the disney channels remain unavailable for an “extended period of time.” The company has not yet specified when the credit will be applied.
