Living with endometriosis

Berlin – A new⁤ focus on endometriosis, a⁢ chronic and often debilitating condition affecting millions‍ of women, is gaining momentum with in-depth reporting and personal stories emerging from Zeit magazine. The publication’s recent coverage delves into⁣ the challenges of diagnosis, the experience of living with the disease, and the ⁣reasons behind its intense pain.

Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining ‍of the ​uterus grows outside of it, causing⁤ inflammation,‌ scarring, and often severe pain.Affecting ‌approximately 10% of women of reproductive age globally, the condition frequently ‍goes undiagnosed for years, leading to delayed treatment and a diminished quality ⁣of life.zeit‘s ⁢reporting, published August 30, 2025, aims to raise awareness and provide⁣ a platform for those​ impacted to share their experiences, ⁢potentially accelerating diagnosis and improving care.

The⁤ Zeit project credits Celia Parbey,Marie thomas,and Jana⁢ Trietsch as editor and producers. Lars Zimmermann handled camera work and editing, ‌while Benjamin Gutheil created the animation.
