Ravens Place Pro Bowl Defensive Tackle Nnamdi Madubuike on Injuredโ Reserve
The โBaltimore Ravens announced Tuesday that โฃPro Bowl defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike has been placed onโ injured reserve, sidelining the key defensive player forโค at least the next four weeks. The move comes after Madubuike missed the team’s Week 3 loss toโค the Detroit Lions and was subsequently ruled out for this week’s contest againstโ the Kansas City Chiefs.
This is a notable setback for the Ravens, who entered the season as a Super Bowl contender but now find themselves at 1-2 following a 224-yard rushing performance allowed by their defense in Madubuike’s absence. The 2020 third-round draft pick had emerged as one of the NFL’s premier interior defensive linemen, recordingโ 13 sacks and earning a Pro โBowl selection in 2023, followedโ by a second consecutive Pro Bowl nod in 2024. He beganโ the 2024 season wiht a sack inโ each of Baltimore’s first twoโ games before sustaining his injury.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh โexpressed concern โขregarding the natureโข of Madubuike’s injury, stating he hadn’t received โฃclearance to disclose whether itโฃ was long-term. Veteran John Jenkins and rookie Aeneas Peebles are expected to see increased playingโค time in Madubuike’s absence, withโค Cj okoyeโค and Josh โTupou elevated from theโฃ practice squad to provide additional depth. However, the Ravens acknowledge filling the โขvoid left by a player โขof Madubuike’s caliber will be a considerable challenge.
