Jakarta – โฃHonda anticipates Indonesian motorcycle sales will reach 6.4 million units in โ2024, buildingโ on a strong performance โขwith 5.4 millionโ units sold from January toโ October, according to recent data from the indonesian Motorcycle Industry association (AISI). The projection comes as PT Astraโค Honda Motor โ(AHM)โข introduces its latest iteration of the Vario 125 scooter, a key โcontributor to theโ company’s sales.
The Varioโ 125 currently accounts for 15-17 percent of AHM’s total sales in Indonesia, revealed Thomas Wijaya, Executive Vice President of โฃPT โคAHM, during an event in Cikarang, West Java.Basedโ on a projected national motorcycle sales figure โคof 4.9โข million units for 2024, this translatesโ to an estimated 700,000 Vario 125 units sold โขannually.
Launchedโข in 2012, the Vario 125 โขhas become a mainstay in โขthe โIndonesian market, with โtotal sales reaching 9 million units over 13 years. The Vario line itself debuted โin Indonesia in 2006โ with a 110cc engine, adn now โincludes โฃa โฃ160cc option alongside the updated 125cc model.
Octavianus Dwi, Marketing Director of PT AHM, expects marketโ conditions to remain โconsistent with 2023. “The market will likely be similar to last year,” Octa stated, adding that Honda’s performance โขwill โfollow suit, “even if it increases โขslightly.”
Octa also noted a positive trend in October โand November sales, and highlighted the importance of financing โคoptions, stating that 70% โof Honda’s motorcycle sales are credit-based. He โฃalso acknowledged a modest stimulus โfrom the goverment in the fourth quarter, contributing to overall marketโ optimism.
