Israeli Prime Minister accuses ‘barbaric terrorists’ of attacking hospital in Gaza

(CNN) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused what he described as “barbaric terrorists in Gaza” of “attacking” Al-Ahly Baptist Hospital in Gaza, on Tuesday, after Hamas and the Palestinian Authority accused the Israeli army of bombing the hospital.

Netanyahu said, in a statement: “So that the whole world knows: it is the barbaric terrorists in Gaza who attacked the hospital in Gaza, not the Israeli army,” and added: “Whoever brutally kills our children is killing their children as well.”

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Israeli forces “did not carry out any operations” in the hospital area at the time it was hit.

She added, “The damage was caused by a missile fired by the Islamic Jihad movement towards Israel,” and continued: “The Islamic Jihad movement fired a barrage of missiles towards Israel, and one of the missiles landed incorrectly on the hospital.”

It stated that “Islamic Jihad’s failures posed a severe danger to civilians in Gaza.”

US President Joe Biden Considering a Visit to Israel Amid Gaza Conflict

According to government circles, US President Joe Biden (80) is apparently considering a visit to Israel in the coming days.

A senior government member told the AP news agency on Sunday (local time) that a decision had not yet been made. From the point of view of observers, a trip to Israel would be an opportunity for Biden to reaffirm the solidarity of the USA with the Israeli people after the brutal attacks by the militant Islamist Hamas there.

Ground offensive is imminent

His possible visit would come at a time of growing concern that an expected Israeli ground offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip could lead to an escalation of the conflict and devastating humanitarian consequences.

Iran, Hamas’ main supporter, could see Biden’s visit as a provocation. Arab countries may also take exception to a possible trip to Israel by the US president given the rising civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip. His Secretary of State Antony Blinken traveled through several Arab states last week after a visit to Israel and planned to return to Israel at the beginning of the week.

“Big mistake”

Biden himself warned the Israeli government not to reoccupy the Gaza Strip. “I think that would be a big mistake,” he said in an interview broadcast on CBS on Sunday. “Look, what happened in Gaza, in my view, is Hamas, and the extreme elements of Hamas do not represent the entire Palestinian people. And I think it would be a mistake for Israel to occupy Gaza again.”

At the same time, Biden emphasized that it was necessary to “eliminate the extremists.” Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip in 2005, and Hamas won elections in the Palestinian territories the following year.

(CNN) – US President Joe Biden announced on Monday that “there are now at least 11 American citizens confirmed to have been killed in Israel.”

Biden added, in a statement, that it is “possible” that American citizens are among the hostages held by Hamas, and he continued that his administration is “working with Israeli officials on every aspect of the hostage crisis,” and noted that there are American citizens who “are still… Their fate is unknown.”

The US President’s statements came as the war raging since dawn on Saturday between the Israelis and the Palestinians, in the Gaza Strip, the enclave of the Strip and some Israeli cities, continues for the third day in a row.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, on Friday, that Turkey’s relations with Egypt “will develop in a very different way,” adding that “the development of relations will enhance our economic capabilities.”

Erdogan said, in statements he made to reporters on board the plane during his return from a tour that included Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE, that he “felt from the leaders of the Gulf countries he visited welcoming Turkey and Egypt’s recent announcement of upgrading their diplomatic relations to the level of ambassadors.”

The Turkish president said that he will visit “Libya, and perhaps a tour that will include some North African countries.”

Regarding the meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which is scheduled to take place in Ankara in late July, Erdogan said: “We will hold our first meeting with Netanyahu, and I hope that this step will be the beginning of a much better phase in Turkish-Israeli relations.”

The Presidency of the Republic of Turkey announced Netanyahu’s visit, and said in a statement: “During the meeting, the bilateral relations between Turkey and Israel in all their dimensions will be reviewed, and the steps to be taken to improve cooperation between the two sides will also be discussed, and views will be exchanged on regional and international issues and bilateral relations.”
