Israeli Army Warns of Action in Response to Hezbollah Escalation

(CNN) – The Israeli army confirmed, on Thursday, that its country would “respond with actions, not words,” to any escalation by the Lebanese Hezbollah on the northern border.

The Israeli army had exchanged fire with Hezbollah fighters over the past few weeks, and the army said on Thursday that it had struck several Hezbollah targets in Lebanon in response to shooting towards Israel.

Hezbollah issued a statement on Thursday in which it said it had “bombed an Israeli military barracks in the Shebaa Farms area with two drones,” claiming that they had carried out “very direct strikes.”

Shebaa Farms is a disputed area along the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah is expected to deliver a speech regarding the war in Gaza on Friday.

In response to a question about the possibility of escalation in light of Nasrallah’s speech, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari confirmed that his country “will respond with action,” indicating that they are “fully prepared.”

It is not clear what Nasrallah might announce in Friday’s speech, but Hezbollah-owned media has been supporting Hamas since its attack on Israel on October 7.

Observers will analyze the speech for signs that the conflict is entering a new phase.

In anticipation of the speech, White House spokesman John Kirby said Thursday: “Our message to him or anyone else thinking about expanding this conflict: You shouldn’t do it.”

Hezbollah is considered a regional force that could turn the war between Israel and Hamas into a regional conflict. It possesses a more advanced arsenal than Hamas, and its increasing participation in the war may lead to a tightening noose on Iran’s paramilitary partners in the region. Iraq and Yemen.

The United Nations expresses concern over potential war crimes in Israeli raids on Jabalia refugee camp

(CNN) – The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights expressed concern on Wednesday that the Israeli raids on the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza “may amount to war crimes.”

The UNHCR said on social media: “Given the large number of civilian casualties and the scale of destruction that followed the Israeli air strikes on Jabalia refugee camp, we have serious concerns that these are disproportionate attacks that could amount to war crimes.”

The UN statement comes after the Israeli army confirmed that the explosion that occurred in the Fallujah neighborhood of Jabalia refugee camp on Wednesday was due to an air strike, following an air strike on Tuesday.

The two air strikes targeted the Hamas movement, according to the Israeli army, which said in a statement on Wednesday that its planes “bombed a Hamas command and control complex in Jabalia,” adding that “Hamas terrorists were eliminated in the raid.”

Israeli Spokesman Praises Efforts Leading to Release of Hamas Hostages

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 24, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

(CNN) – On Monday, the spokesman for the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the “efforts” that led to the release of two hostages released by the Hamas movement.

The spokesman said, in a statement on behalf of the Special Envoy for Abductees and Missing Persons: “The Israeli army and security forces have worked hard in the past few days, through all channels, to release the two hostages (Nurit Cooper and Yoshved Lifshitz) and overcome the many difficulties set by Hamas.”

He added, “The two hostages were transferred to a medical center in Israel, where their family members are waiting.” He continued, “We thank Egypt for its assistance, and the Red Cross for its important role as lifesavers.”

The statement stated: “The government, army and security establishment in Israel will continue to work with all their efforts and efforts to locate all missing persons and return all kidnapped persons to their homes.”

Hamas announced that it had released the two hostages, after Qatari and Egyptian mediation, according to Israeli officials and other sources familiar with the matter, according to CNN.

The movement’s spokesman, Abu Ubaida, said in a statement: “The enemy (has) been refusing to receive them since last Friday. We have decided to release them for compelling humanitarian and health reasons.”

On Sunday, Israel said it would not respond to Hamas’ claims that it was “ready” to release two additional hostages, describing this as “false propaganda.”

On Friday, Hamas released the two American hostages, Judith Tai Raanan and Natalie Raanan.

For his part, US President Joe Biden, on Monday, called on Hamas to release all hostages held in Gaza before discussing the possibility of reaching a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza.

When pressed by a White House reporter on whether the White House supported a ceasefire in exchange for the release of the hostages, Biden said: “We should have a ceasefire,” before correcting himself and saying: “Not a ceasefire; Release these hostages, and then we can talk.”

The former head of Saudi intelligence condemns Hamas and calls for peaceful resistance against Israeli occupation

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 22, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – On Saturday, the Israel in Arabic page of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited a video clip of statements made by the former head of Saudi intelligence, Prince Turki Al-Faisal, about the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” in a speech he delivered at the Baker Institute for Public Policy, on Tuesday. .

The Saudi prince said in the part published by Israel in Arabic: “I strongly condemn Hamas’ targeting of civilian targets of any age or gender that it is accused of. Such targeting belies Hamas’ claim to Islamic identity. Islam prohibits the killing of children, women and the elderly. The prohibition also prohibits the desecration of places of worship, and I condemn it.” Hamas continues to undermine the Palestinian Authority.

The Deputy Director of the United Nations and International Organizations Division at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amir Weisbrod, re-published the same clip, saying with a comment: “Prince Turki Al-Faisal is pointing the finger at the letters that the terrorist operations carried out by Hamas contradict the Islamic values that prohibit the killing of children and women… Hamas aims to Destabilizing the region. The majority of the region’s residents want a secure future. I am certain that reason and wisdom will prevail against extremism.”

Prince Turki Al-Faisal had also said in the same speech: “I also condemn Hamas for giving a pretext to the government of Israel, which is ostracized throughout the world, including half of the Israeli people, as fascist and criminal… I condemn Hamas for giving this (Israeli) government the pretext to ethnically cleanse Gaza of its citizens and bomb them until Extermination…”

He added: “All militarily occupied peoples have the right to resist their occupation, even militarily. I do not support the military option in Palestine. I prefer the other option, civil rebellion and disobedience. This brought down the British Empire in India and the Soviet Empire in Eastern Europe. Israel has overwhelming military superiority and we see in front of “We see the destruction and annihilation you are inflicting on the people of Gaza.”

Hamas Attack on Israel Linked to American Efforts to Normalize Israeli-Saudi Relations, says President Biden

Hamas Attack on Israel Linked to American Efforts to Normalize Israeli-Saudi Relations, says President Biden

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 21, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

(CNN) – US President Joe Biden said on Friday that the Hamas movement launched an attack on Israel because of American efforts to normalize Israeli-Saudi relations.

Biden added to his supporters at a campaign fundraiser: “One of the reasons Hamas moved toward Israel is because they knew I was about to sit down with the Saudis.”

He added, “The Saudis wanted to recognize Israel,” and continued, “They were about to recognize Israel.”

It is noteworthy that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had said, last month, during an interview with CNN, that it was “likely” that Israel would reach an agreement to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia.

Netanyahu described the potential agreement as a “paradigm shift” in the region, adding that it “will change the Middle East forever, as it will demolish the walls of hostility.”

For his part, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said last month that “the Palestinian issue is important for the normalization of relations with Israel.”

Prince Mohammed bin Salman added, during an interview with the chief political anchor of the American Fox News network, Bret Baier, in the city of Neom: “We are discussing with the Americans to reach good results that will alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians.”

The Saudi Crown Prince explained that suspending negotiations regarding the relationship with Israel is “incorrect,” and added that “they are progressing every day.”

He stated that if the Joe Biden administration succeeds in concluding an agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel, “it will be the largest of its kind since the Cold War.”

He added: “Every day we get closer” to reaching an agreement, describing it as a “serious and real agreement.”

He said: “For us, the Palestinian issue is very important, and we have good negotiations going on so far and we will see where they go. We hope that it will facilitate life for the Palestinians and make Israel a player in the Middle East.”

The Saudi Crown Prince stated that his country is “ready to work with any Israeli leader if he is able to reach an agreement,” and added: “If we achieve a breakthrough to reach an agreement that gives the Palestinians their needs and makes the region calm, we will work with any party there.”
