Title: International Force Needed to Secure Peace in Gaza

by Emma Walker – News Editor November 3, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

International Force Deemed Essential for ⁣Gaza peace as U.S.⁢ navigates Turkish Role, regional Concerns

GAZA CITY – Efforts to establish a multinational security force in Gaza are facing complex challenges, wiht key stakeholders disagreeing⁢ on composition and deployment, despite indications ‍Hamas may⁤ accept the force with Turkish‍ participation. The United States is attempting to broker an agreement, but faces ⁣resistance from Israeli Prime ‍Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who opposes a Turkish military presence, and ⁤anxieties from Jordan regarding the fate of Palestinian ⁢refugees.

The potential‌ deployment⁤ of an International Security Force (ISF) hinges on securing buy-in from multiple nations, including Egypt, Qatar,⁤ and ⁣Türkiye, who have ‌reportedly signaled⁤ Hamas’ willingness to accept the force – but ⁤only with Turkish involvement. U.S. officials⁢ recognize⁤ Türkiye’s crucial role in securing Hamas’ agreement, with one unnamed source⁢ telling Arutz Sheva, Israel’s national ‌news association,⁢ “the Turks were very helpful in getting the Gaza deal, and Netanyahu’s bashing Türkiye has ⁤been very counterproductive.” Without Turkish participation, diplomats believe Hamas is unlikely to agree to the ISF’s presence within ⁢Gaza.

The proposed ISF is envisioned as more than a traditional policing operation, requiring enforcement of peace on both sides of the conflict, a task complicated ⁤by resistance from elements⁢ within the region. concerns ⁣extend beyond immediate security, with Jordan’s King‌ Abdullah II reportedly apprehensive about the potential for further displacement of Palestinians. This echoes historical precedents; diaries of David Ben-Gurion,‍ a leader in the early Zionist movement, document that Palestinian residents initially welcomed Jewish immigrants, unaware they would ultimately be dispossessed. Following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, ‍many Palestinians were displaced to neighboring countries⁢ like Lebanon and Jordan, aided by Abdullah I, the than-emir of Transjordan, who provided refuge. His ⁣grandson, the current King, appears less inclined to offer the ⁢same ⁤protection.

Israelis Mark 30th Anniversary of Rabin’s Assassination

Israelis Mark 30⁣ Years Since Rabin Assassination, Amidst Current Political ‍Climate

JERUSALEM – Israelis gathered today to commemorate the 30th anniversary of ⁤the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, a pivotal moment that continues‌ to reverberate⁣ through the nation’s political landscape.Rabin was fatally shot on November 4, ⁣1995, by a right-wing ‌extremist opposed to his peace negotiations with the Palestinians.

The remembrance comes as Israel is ⁢governed by its most right-wing coalition in history, led by prime ⁣Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who first held office a‌ year ‌after ⁣Rabin’s death. The anniversary serves as a stark reminder ⁣of the deep ‍political ⁤divisions within Israeli society and the‌ fragility of the peace process. Opposition leader Yair⁤ Lapid stated⁣ the bullets fired “were not only intended to kill a leader, but also to eradicate⁢ an idea,” according to‍ The Times of Israel.

Rabin,⁣ a decorated general and former chief of staff, ‍initiated groundbreaking peace talks with⁢ the palestine Liberation Organization, leading to the Oslo Accords.⁤ These agreements aimed to establish a ⁣framework for resolving the decades-long‌ Israeli-Palestinian conflict.Though,a virulent smear campaign against ⁤Rabin, fueled by extremist‍ groups, escalated in the months leading up to ‌his assassination.

The organizers‌ of today’s memorial events emphasized that Rabin was murdered “at the horrific height of a rampant smear campaign.” His death abruptly halted the momentum⁢ toward ⁢a two-state solution and left a lasting scar ‌on the Israeli psyche. Netanyahu previously served as⁣ Prime ‍Minister from 1996-1999 and again from 2009-2021, and returned to ‌power in ⁣2022, forming the current right-wing government.

Gaza Schools Reopen: Children Return to Classrooms After Ceasefire

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor November 2, 2025
written by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor

Gaza City – After a⁤ two-year disruption caused by conflict and displacement, schools in Gaza are cautiously reopening, offering a fragile return to normalcy for Palestinian children. The United Nations Relief⁤ and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the‍ Near East (UNRWA) began resuming classes this week following the recent ceasefire, with‌ students gradually returning to learning.

The resumption of education is a ⁢critical step for Gaza’s children, many of whom have⁢ experienced significant trauma and educational setbacks due to repeated cycles of violence.More than 25,000 schoolchildren have already joined UNRWA’s “temporary learning spaces,” with approximately 300,000 more expected to participate in online classes. The reopening, however, is occurring amidst significant challenges, including a shortage of classrooms and basic resources.

At Al Hassaina school in⁣ the Nuseirat refugee camp, classes resumed on Saturday despite ongoing limitations. Eleven-year-old Warda Radwan expressed her relief at returning to school, noting she had lost two years of education due to displacement and the war. “I am in sixth grade now, but I lost two years ‌of schooling because of displacement and the war,” she told AFP.

During the recent conflict between Israel and hamas, Al Hassaina, like many UNRWA facilities, served as shelter for displaced families. Evidence of their recent presence remains visible, with ⁣laundry ‍still hanging across the school’s floors. Classes are being restarted incrementally as families⁣ continue to vacate the building.

Despite the difficult conditions, students are eager to learn. Classrooms are‌ currently overcrowded, with approximately 50 girls ‍crammed into ‌a single room, sitting on the⁢ floor without desks or chairs. Teachers report excited participation, with students diligently copying lessons from the blackboard.

“As Oct. 7, there hasn’t been any school for our children,” said Jenin Abu Jarad, a relative of a⁢ student. “During this time, all ‌they ⁢could do was fetch water, get food, or play⁣ in the streets. But thankfully, about a week to ten days ago, schools began reopening gradually.”

The reopening of schools represents a vital, though tentative, step towards recovery for Gaza’s children, offering a glimmer of hope amidst ongoing instability. ⁢UNRWA continues to work to expand access to education and provide a safe learning environment for all students in the territory.

Title: Israel: Hamas Remains Not Hostages, Strain on Ceasefire

israel Confirms⁢ Returned Remains Not of Hostages Held in gaza

JERUSALEM – Israeli officials stated ⁤today that ‌remains recently returned by ‌Hamas are ‌not those of Israeli hostages still held in Gaza, according to a statement released by ‍the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The ‍bodies were identified following forensic examination.

The return of remains, even those not of hostages, underscores the‌ ongoing and intensely sensitive negotiations surrounding the release of captives taken during the October 7th Hamas-led attack⁤ that triggered the⁤ current ‍conflict. over 251 individuals were taken hostage during the initial assault, and approximately 136 ⁣remain in Gaza, according to israeli estimates. The fate of these hostages remains a central concern for⁣ Israel and a key factor in ongoing ceasefire talks.

Indonesia has expressed willingness to⁤ contribute to a potential multinational peacekeeping force in Gaza, but stressed the need for a clear mandate from the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). “There has to be a mandate from the UNSC, which we hope will be issued. There has been no discussions so far,and we’re far from settling any details,” Indonesian Foreign Minister‍ sugiono said earlier this week.Indonesian officials have also reiterated their support for⁢ an autonomous Palestinian state, while ⁤emphasizing the importance of ensuring Israel’s security.

The‌ conflict, now entering its eighth month, began with the ‌Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023, which resulted ⁣in⁣ the deaths‍ of⁤ approximately 1,200 people in Israel. israel’s subsequent military offensive in Gaza has killed more than 68,600 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The ministry’s figures, while generally considered reliable by ⁣independent experts,do‍ not differentiate between combatants ⁤and ‍civilians. Israel disputes ⁤the ministry’s ‌numbers but has not provided an alternative toll.

Title: Gaza Under Fire: Israel Strikes Kill 104, Intensify Conflict

Trump Backs Israel’s⁢ Right to Respond to Attacks in Gaza as Palestinian Death Toll Climbs to 104

GAZA⁤ CITY – Former ⁤U.S. President Donald Trump has affirmed his support ‍for Israel’s response to recent attacks originating from Gaza, even as the Palestinian death toll reached 104, including 46 children and 20 women, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. The escalating ‌violence has sparked international‍ concern and raised questions about the future of a ceasefire previously signaled to remain in⁤ effect.

The renewed conflict centers on Israeli military operations targeting areas within Gaza, including strikes in densely populated‌ refugee camps⁢ and neighborhoods. While Israel maintains it is responding to attacks and targeting militant infrastructure, the rising civilian casualties are fueling condemnation and calls for de-escalation. The situation underscores the fragile peace in the region and the complex challenges facing ‌both Israelis and Palestinians.

Israeli attacks have focused on multiple areas within Gaza. In Gaza City, rescue workers from the Hamas Civil Defense Agency recovered three women and a man from the rubble of a ‍home in the Sabra neighborhood belonging to the al-Banna family. Further‌ north, in Beit ⁣Lahia, strikes hit ⁤a storage area suspected of housing rocket launch sites, though civilians were also among the ⁣victims.

The Bureij refugee camp witnessed the deaths of five members of the Abu Sharar⁢ family following an attack on their home ⁣in Block 7, with reports describing widespread destruction. Similarly,⁢ in Nuseirat, airstrikes impacted densely populated areas, leaving dozens injured, many of⁣ whom were children playing‍ outdoors.

In Khan Younis, women mourned at Nasser Hospital for ⁢Bayan al-Shawaf and her four children,⁣ killed in an attack on a⁣ refugee tent in the al-Mawasi area.

Title: Erdoğan Accuses Israel of Genocide, Merz Defends Israel in Ankara Meeting

Erdoğan Accuses Israel of Genocide, Draws Rebuke from Visiting German CDU Leader Friedrich Merz

ANKARA, Türkiye – October 30, 2025 – Turkish⁣ President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan today accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, a ‌charge ⁢swiftly contradicted by visiting German opposition leader Friedrich ‌Merz. The stark disagreement occurred during Merz’s official visit to Ankara, focused heavily on the escalating conflict‌ and potential avenues ⁢for de-escalation. The exchange underscores the widening diplomatic rift over the handling of the Gaza‍ war and highlights differing perspectives on international law and the scale of the humanitarian crisis.

The public divergence between ‍Erdoğan and Merz, chairman of the‍ Christian Democratic ⁤Union (CDU),signals a complex dynamic in German-Turkish relations as both ‌nations navigate the geopolitical fallout from the⁢ conflict. The visit, occurring amid⁤ heightened tensions, aimed to foster ⁢dialog but rather exposed essential disagreements on the core issues. the ⁣situation impacts regional stability, the⁣ future of Israeli-Palestinian relations, and the delicate balance of power within NATO, where both Türkiye and Germany are key‌ members.

During a joint press conference,Erdoğan stated Israel’s actions in Gaza‌ amounted to “nothing less than genocide,” criticizing ‍the international community’s response as insufficient. He further asserted that Israel was targeting⁢ civilians indiscriminately⁣ and violating international law.

Merz, though, firmly‍ rejected the genocide accusation. “I clearly distance myself from this assessment,” he stated, emphasizing the need for a nuanced understanding of the situation and upholding⁣ Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas. He acknowledged the immense suffering of Palestinian civilians but ‍maintained that equating Israel’s military operations to genocide ‌was⁢ inaccurate and counterproductive to finding‍ a peaceful⁣ resolution.

The CDU leader’s visit⁣ also included discussions regarding a potential arms deal between the ‍United Kingdom and Türkiye for 20 eurofighter Typhoon jets, a ⁢topic reportedly raised by⁢ British Labor leader Keir Starmer⁣ during a separate visit to⁣ Ankara. Moreover, the Gaza war dominated talks, with Merz seeking to understand ⁣Türkiye’s position and ‌explore potential avenues for humanitarian aid and diplomatic mediation. Notably, Merz did not meet with representatives from Turkish opposition parties during his trip.
