Indian squad for ODI series against Australia to be announced this week

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 14, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Mumbai: The Indian squad for the ODI series against Australia, which will be held immediately before the World Cup after the Asia Cup, will be announced this week. Most of the players from the Asia Cup squad and the 15-member squad announced for the World Cup are expected to be in the Indian squad for the ODI series against Australia.

At the same time, in the event of injury to Shreyas Iyer in the World Cup and Asia Cup teams, the fans are waiting to see if the Malayalee player Sanju Samson or the young player Thilak Verma in the Asia Cup team will be considered in the team for the series against Aussies. Shreyas today trained with the Indian team ahead of the final Super Four match against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup, but the Indian team management is worried about his frequent injuries.

Suryakumar Yadav is in the Asia Cup team and the World Cup team as a back-up even if Shreyas is unable to play. With KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan playing together in the playing eleven, it is believed that Shreyas’ absence will not affect India.

India tried to lose the match against Sri Lanka to give Pakistan work; Akhtar replied to the allegation

Meanwhile, with Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul securing the wicketkeeper position as well as a place in the playing eleven, it is suggested that Sanju’s chances of making it to the squad are slim. If Shreyas is rested, Tilak Varma is more likely to be a left-handed batsman in the middle order. Tilak Verma is in the Asia Cup squad. With the return of KL Rahul, Sanju, who was the traveling stand-by in the Asia Cup team, was sent back. Sanju is currently vacationing in UAE.

BCCI sources indicate that the selectors may not be mature enough to make changes in the world team or give rest to senior players at the threshold of the World Cup. Although the series against Australia is seen as the last opportunity for experiments before the World Cup, there is little chance of changes in the set team. The three-match ODI series against Australia will begin on the 22nd of this month. There are three matches in the series.

Windies Legend Andy Roberts Criticizes Indian Team’s Arrogance and Batting Performance in World Test Championship Final

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com June 15, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Oval: Criticism continues against the Indian team that lost miserably to Australia in the World Test Championship final. Windies pace legend Andy Roberts has recently come out with criticism against Rohit Sharma and his team.

Roberts said he was certain that India would be crushed in that Test before the World Test Championship final. The reason is the overconfidence and arrogance of the Indian players, said Roberts in an interview to Mid-Day newspaper. The Indian team was affected by arrogance. They underestimated every other competitor in the world. The Indian team must first decide which format to prefer. Be it Test or white ball cricket. But in T20 cricket, you can’t see only the battle between the ball and the bat.

In the beginning, I just hoped that India’s batting would be strong at the Oval. Only Ajinkya Rahane resisted in the first innings. Shubman Gill played some good shots at the crease but it didn’t last long. Often Gill was not ready to play on the back foot. When Australia scored 469 in the first innings, the only way forward for India was to chase. Seeing India go down without a fight in all the big matches is not new.

West Indies tour: Umran Malik to return, Arshdeep in Test squad, Sanju too

We have seen it in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final and the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final. Therefore, when the Aussies scored 444 runs to win in the fourth innings, I realized that India had no chance. I have no such expectations. I was sure they would be devastated. Because, Andy Roberts said, India’s batting was so pathetic.

Ravi Shastri Criticizes Indian Team’s Performance and Priorities, Suggests Changes to IPL Contract

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com June 10, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

London – Although the result of the World Test Championship final is yet to be confirmed, Australia has the upper hand on the fourth day of the match. Rohit and his team have not been able to get back into the match even once after the first session of the first day. India conceded a lead of 173 runs in the first innings. In the first innings, the top order consisting of captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara managed to score only 71 runs. The batting of Ajinkya Rahane, Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja saved India from a major embarrassment.

After this, the former Indian player and coach Ravi Shastri has come out with severe criticism against the performance of the Indian team. Three out of four of India’s top-order batsmen reached the Test Championship final with IPL experience. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli were in brilliant form in the IPL, including a century. Still, Ravi Shastri’s criticism lies in losing a crucial match like the final.

Ravi Shastri opined that players should set their priorities straight while playing in the IPL and the national team. “You have to set your priorities. What is the priority, Indian team or franchise cricket? You have to decide that. Forget about the Test Championship final, even if it’s franchise cricket. On the contrary, if this is important, the BCCI should give him the right to withdraw from the IPL to play for the national team after reaching an agreement with the players in the IPL,” said Ravi Shastri.

Shastri suggested that the BCCI should first include this clause in the IPL contract and then the franchises could decide on each player’s squad. Ravi Shastri asked the BCCI as the guardians of cricket in the country to consider this matter seriously. This is not the first time Shastri has raised this issue.

He asked the players for the Test Championship final to take care of their workload during the IPL season. After playing in the IPL till May 29, the Indian players entered the final of the World Test Championship after a gap of a week. Australia, on the other hand, had come to England a month before the Ashes and started training.

Australia Takes Early Lead Against India in World Test Championship Final

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com June 7, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The Oval: Australia get off to a good start against India in World Test Championship final. When the information was finally received, Australia was 113 runs for the loss of three wickets. Steven Smith(12) and Travis Head(28) are at the crease. Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur took one wicket each for India.

India took their first wicket in the fourth over. Mohammad Siraj started the first wicket-hunt by getting Usman Khawaja into the hands of wicket-keeper Srikar Bharat in an outswinger that reached a speed of 144 kmph. Khawaja returned with 10 balls straight without opening his account. After that, Warner and Labuschagne made a partnership of 69 runs. Shardul Thakur broke this partnership by returning Warner who had established himself. Warner’s score was 43 runs.

Immediately after, Labuschein also returned, and Australia’s position deteriorated. Mohammed Shami returned Labuschey who scored 26 runs. With that, Australia reached the level of 76 for three. But Travis Head and Smith save the team in the fourth wicket. The head bat is bowled in ODI style. The player has already hit six boundaries. Smith bats defensively.

India won the toss and chose to bowl. When Indian skipper Rohit Sharma got the toss, who came out with four pacers on a pitch full of green, Thellum did not have to think about choosing to bowl. Along with Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj, Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur are Indian pacers. India plays only one spinner. Ravindra Jadeja has been included in the final eleven considering Ashwin’s batting. Srikar Bharat is behind the wicket.

Australia won the toss and are batting in the 3rd ODI which is being held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. KL Rahul is India’s wicket keeper in the series. He donned the wicket-keeping glove in the third ODI as well. But in the third ODI, he was seen walking off the field and Ishan Kishan taking over the role of wicketkeeper.

The incident happened after the sixteenth over of the Australian innings. KL Rahul stopped the game and was walking out of the ground. Later, the young player Ishan Kishan, who was not in the playing eleven, reached the ground and took over the duty of the wicketkeeper. But those watching the match did not understand the reason behind this. This move was a complete surprise to everyone. BCCI has also not clarified the reason for Rahul’s return till now.

At the same time, KL Rahul returned to the field in the twenty-ninth over of the Australian innings after 12 overs. Then he took over the wicket-keeping duty from Ishan Kishan.

Batting first for Australia, openers Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh gave a good start. The two attacked and added 68 runs in 10.5 overs. Head’s wicket was their first loss. He scored 33 runs off 31 balls. After captain Steven Smith and Mitchell Marsh who scored 47 runs fell, Australia was 85/3.

Marnus Labuschagne and David Warner also failed to shine as expected and were dismissed for 28 and 23 runs respectively. Australia are 173/5 after 34 overs of the match.
