czech Band โJAR Announces Indefiniteโ Hiatus Following Lucerna Concert
Prague – Czechโ rockโ band JAR performed what mightโ potentially be โคa farewell concertโ at Lucerna Music Bar on February 29, 2024, the band โmembers’ collective birthday, beforeโข announcing anโ indefiniteโ hiatus. The future of โคthe group hinges on the health of vocalist โDan Bรกrta and finding a suitable replacement forโ lyricist Ota Klempรญล.
JAR, a mainstay of the Czech music โคscene, played to a sold-outโ crowd, with Michael Viktoลรญk carryingโข the performance as the sole remaining member of the band’s original trio of frontmen. While Viktoลรญk โขdelivered a strong performance, the absence of Bรกrta and Klempรญล was palpable, with songs performed withoutโข them described as “sad.” During the โevening, keyboardist Roman Holรฝ โalso celebrated โtheโ release of his solo album, Strรกลพce klidu Vol. 2, with โฃaโ joint christening by โViktoลรญk and Monkey Business’ ruppert.
The band stated they will pause activityโ while awaiting updatesโ on Bรกrta’sโ hearing, which would allow him โคto return to the group. They also acknowledged the need to find a replacement for โฃKlempรญล, whose contributions extended beyond songwriting to the band’s overall identity.โค
According to a statement released following โขthe concert, JAR willโ reconvene โif both โthese challenges areโฃ resolved. However, the band also conceded that ongoingโค tensions between the group and Klempรญล could permanently prevent a reunion, or โthat a return may simply prove unfeasible.
