Adam Green Hints at the Future of Hatchet Franchise
Fans of the Hatchet horror franchise are left wondering about the potential for a fifth installment. Creator Adam Green recently hinted at conditions for a sequel, leaving the door open for more gory bayou action.
Crowley’s Future Uncertain
It’s been eight years since the release of Victor Crowley, the fourth film in the Hatchet series, leaving fans to question the future of the franchise. The character, played by horror icon Kane Hodder, hasn’t appeared on screen since, creating anticipation for what’s next.
Adam Green, the creative force behind the series, is currently directing a shark-themed movie, The Ascent. This project marks his return to the director’s chair since Victor Crowley. In a recent interview, Green provided an update on the future of the Hatchet saga.
โItโs always a possibility. I canโt get into all of the minutiae because it would take up six more hours, but the long story short is, once we can make the movie with different entities behind the scenes at the top level, then Iโll be interested in doing [Hatchet] 5,โ

Green added that the creative team is eager to continue the series, but significant changes behind the scenes are needed. He humorously mentioned that the current management is aware of his stance on not moving forward under the present circumstances.
The horror genre continues to thrive, with slasher films experiencing a resurgence in popularity, generating over $100 million at the box office in the last year alone (Statista).
Series History
