Viktoria Plzeň has completed its first Europa League match, in which it faced Eintracht Frankfurt, which won the competition two years ago. Eintracht already led 3:1 at home in front of 56,500 spectators, but Viktoria tied the game at 3:3 with a sensational finish and thus take the first point in the table from Germany.
In the first half, Eintracht controlled the game and created more pressure than Pilsen. He was able to turn it into a goal in the 38th minute, when Rasmus Kristensen found a pass from Ekitike in the box, who beat Jedlička with a ground shot to the left post.
But Plzeň was able to respond quickly. Three minutes later, Kalvach’s shot on the edge of the penalty area was blocked by a Frankfurt player, but the deflected ball then reached Šulc, who made no mistake.
The score changed again in the second half. In the 62nd minute, Junior Dina Ebimbe scored, who was found by Hugo Ekitike with a clever pass behind the defence. And Eintracht had a good shot. Five minutes later, Kristensen scored after a corner kick and the German club already led 3:1.
The two-goal lead satisfied the Bundesliga team and Plzeň was able to respond. Jemelka’s cross for the defense hit Prince Kwaben Ada from the first touch, and in the 87th minute a dramatic end to the match was looming. In it, Plzeň tried to equalize and finally succeeded. After a scrum in front of Santos’ goal, he got to Jemelka’s stop and didn’t hesitate. Pilsen tied the score at 3:3 in the 93rd minute, and since the Ukrainian referee Balakin stopped the match a minute later, he takes home a valuable point from Germany.
