Neutering and Vaccination Operation for Dogs and Cats in Salvador Mazza, Salta: ProTenencia’s Responsible Pet Ownership Program

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 22, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Through ProTenencia, the National Responsible Pet Ownership Program of the Ministry of Health of the Nation, a team of veterinary professionals is developing a neutering and vaccination operation for dogs and cats in the border town of Salvador Mazza, in the Province from Salta.

The initiative, which began on September 19 and runs until tomorrow, aims to neuter 350 dogs and cats, understanding that animal overpopulation of urban pet fauna impacts public health. In parallel, a talk on “Promotion of animal health” was also held at the Salvador Mazza Hospital for 70 health agents, which was given by veterinary professionals and headed by the national coordinator of the Protenencia Program, Juan Enrique Romero.

The operation is framed under the concept of “One Health”, which contemplates addressing human, animal and environmental health in an interdisciplinary, inter-institutional and inter-professional manner at the local, national and global level, in order to promote the well-being of people, animals and the environment.

The vaccination of dogs and cats that is carried out in the different municipalities every year for free, with the supply of supplies by the Ministry of Health, seeks to fight against rabies in companion animals. It is a disease transmitted by bite or contact with a sick animal and has no cure once signs and symptoms develop in the affected central nervous system.

In that sense, the North of Argentina, and particularly the border area with the Plurinational Republic of Bolivia, has always demanded particular attention in relation to this issue, which is why tasks are carried out jointly with our neighboring country with the objective to combat the threat of this disease.

It is worth remembering that World Rabies Day will take place on September 28 in commemoration of the death of Louis Pasteur, a French scientist who discovered the anti-rabies vaccine. This is an opportunity to promote the fight against the disease, increase awareness about its prevention, commemorate the achievements made and redouble efforts to combat this disease through a present and active State.

Essential Records 1983-2023: Lisandro Aristimuño recreates Gustavo Cerati’s Puff at the Kirchner Cultural Center

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 17, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

40 years after the recovery of democracy, the Kirchner Cultural Center continues on Sunday 20 at 8:00 p.m. with the series of concerts Essential Records 1983-2023dedicated to recreating the fundamental records of the period.

In this opportunity, Lisandro Aristimuno directing, guitars and voice, recreates Puffthe remarkable solo album by Gustavo Cerati 1999. The singer performs with Mariano Dominguez in low, Fernando Kabusacki on guitar, John Paul Alfieri in drums, Ariel Polenta on keyboards, Rocio Aristimuno in percussion and An Espilin choirs. Among the special guests will be Tweety Gonzalez, Nora Lezano and Fernando Nale.

Photo: Valentin Lopez Lopez

Thus, the group will go through Cerati’s second solo album from end to end after the separation of Soda Stereo, which Gustavo himself considered his “first serious step in a solo career”. Between rock, electronica and psychedelia, and with links to Focus, The Spencer Davis Group, Moby and the Electric Light Orchestra, Puff It is a masterpiece made up of fifteen songs. The concert will also be broadcast live on Sonido Cultura radio.

Aristimuño is considered one of the most original artists on the national scene. Born in Viedma and traversed by the Patagonian scenery, the river, the sea and the winds are the axes of his lyrics. In his work he fuses electronic sounds, acoustic instruments, programming and string arrangements, since he released his first album Turquoise Blues (2004, The Light Years Records).

Owner of a moving sweetness, in his live performances Aristimuño usually gives a new and greater sound to the songs. Surely his interpretations of Cerati’s themes will not be the exception.

—This is not the first time that you will do versions of Cerati, how did the proposal for the recital come about?
—Gustavo Cerati was always in my repertoire since I started playing and singing. It was and is a very important influence on my songs and my records. The proposal came from the organizers of this cycle that the Cultural Center has been doing, which is “Essential Records”. I received this call with great happiness, honor and, above all, with great respect and commitment.

-Why did you choose? Puff? Do you feel any identification with the moment Cerati was going through when he edited it?
—The departure of Puff in 1999 was key for me. I was in the South at the time, starting to record my demos on a cassette recorder. When I bought this CD and put “play” on it, I felt a gigantic opening in my mind and heart, I was frozen with a smile from ear to ear. I felt that I had never heard a record like this made by a Latin American artist, as if the sound future had arrived in my ears and it gave me the guarantee that electronic music could be mixed with songs… and making them sound that way, identified me and influenced the use of environments, sounds and textures.

—The tributes to Charly García and León Gieco at the Kirchner, the series on Fito Páez, the 30th anniversary of Divididos, the biopics project on Luca Prodan, do you feel that you are part of a movement to recognize the origins of Argentine rock?
—I consider myself an admirer of our Argentine music. I learned to sing and play instruments by taking songs from all of them since I started with a cover band in Viedma. They are my teachers and I think that with my records I thank each one for their influence and their flight. These artists and many more have given me the strength and love to compose and make a living from music.

—What expectations do you have about this concert?
—Lots! I am fully grateful for having been summoned with this album, which is one of the most important of my life. Love, respect and emotion will not be lacking… We have rehearsed a lot with a band of incredible musicians excellently summoned for this occasion and who feel the same love as I do for Cerati and, in particular, for this essential and fundamental album for our music.

ticket reservation

The activity requires ticket reservation. The Kirchner Cultural Center offers a mixed mode of booking tickets to the public: virtual and face-to-face. Yellow Fever Prevention and Vaccination Recommendations for Travelers

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 15, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Given the winter vacation break and the confirmation of human cases of yellow fever in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, and in the departments of Beni and Santa Cruz in Bolivia in recent months, it is recommended to intensify surveillance actions in people and non-human primates. Likewise, reinforce prevention and control actions, in order to minimize the risk of reintroduction of yellow fever (YF) in the country and keep travelers who travel to areas where vaccination against yellow fever is recommended and vaccinated. FA.

Our National Calendar contemplates the vaccination of people residing in areas with risk of viral circulation such as the provinces of Misiones, Corrientes and Formosa and some departments of Chaco, Salta and Jujuy:

● First dose: between 12 and 18 months of age.
● Booster: at 11 years for those who started the scheme before 24 months.
● Single dose: between 2 and 59 years for those who did not start the scheme before 24 months of age.

Recommendations for people who travel

Vaccination is recommended if your destination is an area with a proven risk of yellow fever transmission or if required by the country to which you are traveling because you come from one of these areas. Those who do not present contraindications or precautions to receive it or have not previously received the vaccine should receive this vaccine at least ten days before arriving at the destination.

A single dose is enough to protect you throughout your life. Argentina does not require the presentation of the international vaccination certificate to enter the country.

For more information on which countries require the yellow fever vaccine, refer to the following link: Yellow fever transmission risk areas

Other prevention strategies

● Wear light clothing that covers arms and legs, especially during outdoor activities.
● Avoid staying in open spaces during the hours where there are more mosquitoes: from sunset until late at night.
● Always use repellents, carefully following the recommendations on the package and renew the application, especially if it has been in contact with water or if it has perspired profusely.
● Avoid the reproduction of mosquitoes, emptying all containers that accumulate water.

In the context of travel, it is important to have all the vaccines on the National Calendar and the COVID-19 vaccine up to date applied according to their age. It is recalled that other diseases that circulate in other parts of the world, such as measles, rubella and poliomyelitis, can also be prevented with vaccines. The simultaneous application of the yellow fever vaccine with other vaccines is safe and effective.

For more information, the Ministry of Health of the Nation reinforces the recommendations for health teams by issuing the following document.
