An unknown man attacked a young woman at the beginning of July in Jyväskylä.
A woman who was the victim of a violent attack managed to save herself from the harsh situation in a resourceful way.
On Sunday, July 7, at nine o’clock in the evening, the woman was outside in the area of the Halssila ski resort in Jyväskylä, when a young man, a complete stranger to her, attacked her.
The attacker used violence on the victim and raped her. The man used a bladed weapon in the act.
The man stopped what he was doing and left the place when the victim pretended to be dead.
– That was a good insight from the victim. Fortunately, he came up with such a way to get the perpetrator to leave, says the crime commissioner Heidi Miettinen from the police of Inner Finland.
After the attacker left, the victim called his relatives, who alerted him for help.
Police said earlier this week that the victim is a young, adult woman. He suffered serious injuries in the attack, but his life is no longer in danger.

A couple of hours after the incident, the police arrested a man from Jyväskylä, born in 2001, as a suspect.
He is suspected of attempted murder and aggravated rape.
The District Court of Central Finland imprisoned the man on July 11.
The case will be transferred to the prosecutor in the fall.
