At the end of 2022, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) ordered Inez Weski to be followed for a few months in an investigation into her actions. Ridouan Taghi’s then lawyer is suspected of being part of his criminal organization.

This much became clear on Wednesday in a hearing of the Marengo trial. Arthur van der Biezen, one of Taghi’s current lawyers, quoted from the investigation into Weski.

The main suspect in the Marengo trial is also a suspect in 26Palma, as the investigation into Weski is called. Taghi has not yet been interviewed by the police.

The file further states that Weski is suspected of “passing on messages from Ridouan Taghi to persons active in the trafficking of narcotics and the laundering of drug money during the period from December 19, 2019 to probably the end of 2020,” Van der said. Rushes.

December 19, 2019 is the day on which Taghi arrived in the Netherlands after his arrest in Dubai. The file would also contain an even longer committal period, namely one until March 2021. From that month onwards, Youssef Taghi visited his cousin and then client Ridouan Taghi in prison. Youssef has been sentenced to 5.5 years for passing on messages from Ridouan.

Also permission to use recording equipment

Weski, who was arrested in April 2023, is also suspected of this. According to Van der Biezen, the criminal file surrounding the former lawyer states that the investigation focused on messages sent via Sky ECC. In October 2022, messages that allegedly came from Weski’s account were added to the file.

Two months later the order was also given to observe Weski. “For what purpose? Has confidential communication also been recorded?” Van der Biezen wondered out loud.

From April 19, 2023, there is also permission to use photo and video equipment, vision intensifiers and motion detectors and positioning equipment in or on vehicles. According to Van der Biezen, the file also states that Weski’s telephone traffic was “monitored”.

The question is whether all these resources were actually deployed, because Weski was arrested on April 21. It is still unclear when the first hearing will take place in the trial against Weski. The former lawyer has been free since June. Her lawyers have already announced that their client will not make a statement.

Lawyer accuses the Public Prosecution Service of ‘abuse of powers’

Van der Biezen discusses the investigation into Weski, because Taghi’s lawyers believe that she has been discredited by the Public Prosecution Service. “The time at which this happened and the investigative tools that were applied and the times at which they were applied indicate abuse of powers on the part of the Public Prosecution Service.”

According to Van der Biezen, all this happened to replace Weski, “a lawyer who is not well liked by the Public Prosecution Service”. The fact that Weski has been portrayed as unreliable would also reflect on Taghi’s current lawyers and thus make their defense impossible.

The 17-year-old Rotterdam resident who was arrested on Tuesday as a suspect in the death of an 18-year-old man from Ridderkerk will remain in custody for another fourteen days. The examining magistrate decided this on Friday.

The victim was shot in Ridderkerk on Monday evening. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the incident on Olmenlaan. There he died of his injuries.

Police spoke with witnesses immediately after the shooting and viewed several camera images. Forensic investigators and a sniffer dog, among others, carried out trace investigations on Olmenlaan.

A house in the nearby Beverwaard district of Rotterdam was also searched. No suspicious objects were found there.

The police are still investigating the circumstances of the shooting on Olmenlaan.

A new witness has unexpectedly come forward in the case surrounding the murder of Derk Wiersum. The unknown person says that Sezer B. and Anouar Taghi did not know that there were plans to kill the lawyer of the key witness in the Marengo trial.

The anonymous person sent an email to the Amsterdam court on Thursday evening. In the email, which is signed ‘Mr. X’, he says that he kept an eye on Wiersum’s office and house together with Sezer B.

According to this person, there was no question of an observation in preparation for a murder. “The task was not to observe Wiersum. But to confront him with violence to make Nabil (key witness in the Marengo trial, ed.) take back his statements and lies,” said Mr X.

The witness says he knows this because he was the one who had to “get” Wiersum. Because they never met the lawyer, nothing ever happened, the man says.

One of Anouar Taghi’s lawyers, Bas Janssen, confirms the report to NU.nl Het Parool that the court has been asked to stay the case against Anouar Taghi for further investigation into the statement. On Tuesday, Anouar Taghi and Sezer B. were sentenced to 26 years and 8 months and eighteen years in prison respectively. “It shouldn’t get any crazier,” said the witness.

Liquidation executors already sentenced to thirty years in prison

Wiersum was murdered in front of his home in Amsterdam on September 18, 2019. Moreno B. and Giërmo B. were sentenced on appeal at the beginning of this year to thirty years in prison for carrying out the liquidation.

The case against Anouar Taghi and Sezer B., among others, concerns making Wiersum’s murder possible. They allegedly kept an eye on the lawyer and passed this information on to the shooters.

Taghi allegedly had cars stolen with which Wiersum could be followed. B. requested information from the Chamber of Commerce and thus obtained Wiersum’s home address, according to the Public Prosecution Service (OM).

Witness says he was in contact with Ridouan Taghi

The anonymous witness says that Anouar Taghi never knew that Wiersum was posting. That would mean that the Public Prosecution Service’s suspicions are far too strong.

After the arrest of Anouar Taghi in November 2019, the witness says he had contact with Ridouan Taghi. Mr. Anouar would know nothing and would therefore be released quickly, was Ridouan’s prediction. According to the witness, Ridouan was involved in the Wiersum case, without specifying this.

According to the witness, the above messages were sent with telephones that Ridouan Taghi had in his possession during his arrest in December 2019 in Dubai. These should therefore be available to the Public Prosecution Service.

The witness also claims that camera images must show that he was in a car with Sezer B. while waiting for Wiersum. A neighbor of the lawyer is also said to have seen them.

The court must now decide whether the Public Prosecution Service should start working again

According to Janssen, there are indeed indications in the file that, in addition to B., a second person was in a car with whom Wiersum was being monitored. The lawyer asks the court to instruct the Public Prosecution Service to investigate this further, just like the other claims in the email.

The court is now considering this. If the court agrees, the case against Anouar Taghi and Sezer B. must be postponed. The Public Prosecution Service says it will respond to the statement at a later date, but cannot say when.

A plea would be made on behalf of Taghi on Thursday, November 23.
