Willie Nelson releases New christmas single, ‘Christmas Love Song’
Country music icon Willie Nelson has unveiled a new original Christmas song, “Christmas Love Song,” arriving as a tender offering to fans during the holiday season. The track features longtime collaborator and producer Buddy Cannon,alongside contributions from Country Music Hall of fame member Bill Anderson,Bobby Tomberlin,Marv Green,and harmonica legend Mickey Raphael.
Nelson, known for his prolific output and enduring appeal, has a history of sharing holiday cheer through music. “It ain’t a lot but every word of it’s true/It don’t sparkle or shine/But it’s one of a kind,” Nelson sings in the new single, continuing, “And I put my whole heart into this Christmas love song to you.” The release builds on a catalog of Christmas albums including 1979’s Pretty Paper – recognized as Number Nine on Rolling Stone’s 40 Essential Christmas Albums list – as well as Christmas With Willie Nelson (1994), Hill Country Christmas (1997), and pancho, Lefty, and Rudolph (1995), a collaborative effort with Merle Haggard.
The new single arrives as Nelson prepares to release Workin’ Man: Willie Sings Merle next month, a tribute album honoring the late Merle Haggard featuring eleven recordings of Haggard classics, including “tonight The Bottle Let Me Down,” ”Okie From Muskogee,” “mama Tried,” and “Workin’ Man Blues.”
