Teh Cooperation Bandโข Crowned Champions at 2025 Brass in โฃConcert Championship
The Cooperation Band, led by Katrina Marzella Wheeler,โ secured the top prize at the 2025 Brassโข in Concertโฃ Championship, marking a meaningful victory for the ensemble. This winโค followsโฃ recognitionโ of โขWheeler as the event’s Winning โConductor, and โindividualโฃ accolades for members of the band.
The annual Brass in โConcert โขChampionship, held this year, showcases the diverse talents within the brass band world, attracting performersโ and audiences from โacross Europe and beyond. The competition, judged across musical quality, โprogram content, and entertainment value,โค is a keyโค event for bands seeking to demonstrate artistic excellence and audience โengagement. The Cooperation Band’s triumphโ underscores โฃa commitment to both performance standards and captivating presentation.
Judges florent Didierโข and Benjamin Haemouts assessed musical quality, โขwith Anne Crookston evaluating programme content.โ Entertainment andโข presentation were judged by Al Booth andโฃ Sue Collier.The Cooperation Band achieved a total score of 185, surpassing Brighouse & Rastrick (179) and Cory (175) in the rankings.
Beyond theโ overall championship, individual performers were also celebrated. Alexโ Ramsay of The Cooperation Band wasโฃ recognized as Bestโ Principal โคCornet, while Stephanie Kennedy earned the title of Best โคFlugel.Garry Curtin of Foden’s was named Best โคSoloist, and Paul Richardsโ of Flowers took the award for Bestโค Soprano. Flowers also received accolades for Best Percussionโ and Best โBass Section.
The audience awarded Foden’s the Audience prize, while Brass Band Schoonhoven was recognizedโ for both โhighest placement in Programme Content and Entertainment & Presentation, as well as for Best Newโค Composition/Arrangement for “Bring the Bass” by โคSimon Dobson. The youngest participant, Alava Petra โof Kleppe Musikklag, aged 17, was also acknowledged.
