The next film from the directing duo known as Daniels – Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert – has been slated for release on November 19, 2027, according to Global Pictures.
The untitled feature marks Daniels’ frist project under a long-term deal wiht Universal, signed in the summer of 2022, shortly before their breakout success with Everything Everywhere All at once. That film, which won Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards, grossed over $100 million worldwide on a $15 million budget, catapulting Daniels to the forefront of Hollywood filmmaking. The project had previously been scheduled for June 12, 2026, but was removed from the calendar in February.
Since their Oscar wins, Daniels have directed episodes of the Disney+ Star Wars series The Skeleton Crew, while remaining tight-lipped about their next feature. in a 2022 interview with The Hollywood Reporter following the Universal deal, Kwan stated, “We love to chase things that could almost be a catastrophe.” Scheinert added, “We thrive on being told no, in moderation,” and expressed concern about a large budget possibly eliminating “those tough conversations.”
the 2027 release signals a return to feature filmmaking for Daniels and represents a significant event film for Universal, building on the momentum of their critically acclaimed and commercially successful Everything Everywhere All at Once.
