officer โandโ Suspect Injured in Roxbury Shooting
BOSTON โ- A Boston Police Department officer and a suspect โคwere wounded by gunfire early Fridayโ morningโ in the Roxbury neighborhood, according to police officials.
The incidentโค began when โofficers were investigating a group of individuals in aโ park located on Dudley Street.During the examination, one person attempted to โคflee, initiating aโ pursuit.
Boston police Commissioner Michael โCox stated that as officers roundedโฃ a โcorner, they were met with โgunfire from the fleeing individual. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect multiple times in the legs. One officer sustainedโฃ a gunshot wound to the arm,which isโ believed to be non-life-threatening.
“Thisโข incident underscores the dangers our โofficers confront daily,” said Boston Mayorโข Michelle Wu,โค expressing gratitude โขfor their service.
The suspect is currently hospitalized and in police custody. โฃTheir injuries are considered non-life-threatening. A firearm with a high-capacity magazine was recovered at the scene by investigators.
Along with theโ officerโค whoโค was shot, threeโ otherโข officers were transported to a local hospital for โฃmedical evaluation following the incident.
Authoritiesโค haveโฃ not yet released the identitiesโ of either the officer or the suspect involved in the shooting.
