Buenos Aires, Argentina -โ Investigative journalist Hugo Alconada mon will be โฃawardedโ an honorary doctorate from Maimonides University nextโค Tuesday, Octoberโข 14, in recognition of his distinguished career in journalismโ and academic contributions.โข The โceremony will take place at 6:30 PM in the Aulaโ Magna of theโ university, locatedโ at Hidalgo 775.
The honorโ acknowledges Alconada Mon’s impactful โwork, including his investigative books Topos: The Real history โฃof the Russian Spies That Took Buenos airesโข as a Base ofโข Operations, Iron Hunting, and The City of Frogs, as well as his roleโ as aโข lawyer and member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), which received a pulitzer Prize โคin 2017 for the Panama Papers investigation. alconada mon’s recognition comesโ at aโ timeโค of increasing challenges forโฃ journalism, asโค he recently addressed at the inauguralโฃ “Urgent Meeting” festival, emphasizing “Journalism as a public service.” During the โคMaimonides University event,he will deliver a speech titled “The โคchallenges ofโค being a journalist in the time of mandriles,carpinchos โฃand ia.”
