saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood, and Mia McKenna-Bruce to Portray Beatles’ Wives in Upcoming Biopics
Sony Pictures has announced the casting of four key roles in The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, rounding out the principal ensemble for the ambitious project. Saoirse Ronan will portray Linda Eastman, Paul McCartney’s first wife; Anna Sawai will play Yoko Ono, John Lennon’s second wife; Aimee Lou Wood will embody Pattie Boyd, George Harrison’s first wife; and Mia McKenna-Bruce will star as Maureen Starkey, Ringo Starr’s first wife. This casting news follows the previously announced leads: Harris Dickenson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.
Director Sam Mendes expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Maureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four fascinating and unique figures in their own right, and I’m thrilled that we’ve managed to persuade four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure.”
The four films will chronicle the lives of the Beatles from their early days in 1960s Liverpool through their 1970 breakup, highlighting the significant influence their spouses had during this period.linda Eastman and Paul McCartney met in 1967, with Eastman later joining McCartney’s band Wings and remaining his wife until her death in 1998.John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s relationship began in 1966, leading to Lennon’s divorce in 1968 and their marriage in 1969; they remained together until Lennon’s murder in 1980. George Harrison and Pattie Boyd met on the set of A hard Day’s Night in 1964 and married in 1966, divorcing in 1977 following Boyd’s affair with Eric Clapton, whom she later married. Ringo Starr and Maureen Starkey dated from 1962, marrying in 1965 and divorcing in 1975; they share three children, including Zak Starkey, a drummer for The Who and Oasis. Maureen Starkey passed away in 1994 after a battle with leukemia.
Ariana grande Joins Season 13 of American Horror Story
In separate casting news, Ariana Grande will appear in the 13th season of FX’s American Horror Story. She joins a veteran cast including Sarah Paulson, Evan peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, and Jessica Lange. Grande previously collaborated with American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy on the 2014 series Scream Queens. The new season is slated for release sometime next year.
