A Visionary in Irish Cinema
Morrison, born in Tramore, Co. Waterford, in 1922, is best remembered for his seminal 1959 documentary, *Mise รire*. Morrisonโs artistic journey began with a fascination for motion pictures, leading him to leave medical studies at Trinity College to pursue a career in the arts. He also developed a significant body of still photography throughout his life, capturing antiquities, food, industry, architecture, and landscapes in both black and white and color.
Recognizing a Cinematic Master
In 2009, Morrison received the Industry Lifetime Contribution Award at the Irish Film and Television Awards. His profound contributions were further acknowledged in 2017 when he was elected Saoi of Aosdรกna, the highest honor in the Irish arts, by President Higgins himself.
