GAZA TRACK – Israeli occupation troops on Wednesday (31/1/2024) stormed the grounds of Al-Amal Hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, after a 10-day siege.

The hospital is affiliated with the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

“Israeli occupation forces currently stormed the Al-Amal Hospital square (and) were stationed in front of the outer gate of the reception and emergency units and opened heavy fire,” said the PRCS statement in X.

PRCS added medical teams continued to treat the injured and patients “despite bombings and gunfire”.

“Today, the hospital received seven dead victims, including a PRCS employee, and treated nine injured victims. The siege and targeting have been going on for ten consecutive days,” the statement said.

The healthcare system in Gaza has collapsed due to Israel’s relentless and systematic attacks on hospitals, ambulances and medical crews during the ongoing genocidal war in Gaza.

In recent days and weeks, major health organizations have issued warnings and called for an immediate ceasefire as essential medical services at Nasser Hospital, the largest health facility still operating in the Gaza Strip, are not functioning.

“This systematic attack on health services is unacceptable and must end now so that those hurting can get the services they need. The entire health system has become dysfunctional,” said Guillemette Thomas, MSF’s medical coordinator in Palestine, on January 27, 2024.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, 26,900 Palestinians have been killed, and 65,949 injured in the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza starting on October 7.

Palestinian and international estimates say the majority of those killed and injured were women and children.

GAZA TRACK – The Israeli military claims to have killed more than 2,000 Palestinian fighters in an operation in the town of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) RDML spokesperson Daniel Hagari claimed this on Monday (29/1/2024).

The Israeli military claims around 9,000 Hamas fighters have been eliminated in the three months since Israel’s invasion of the Gaza Strip. Various estimates put the total number of Hamas forces at between 30,000 and 40,000 fighters.

On October 7, 2023, the Hamas movement that controls the Gaza Strip launched a large-scale rocket attack against Israel and violated the border.

As a result, more than 1,200 people in Israel were killed and around 240 others were kidnapped. Israeli media then reported that many Israeli citizens had been killed by the Zionist military itself.

Israel launched brutal attacks that killed more than 26,600 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, according to local authorities.

On November 24, Qatar brokered an agreement between Israel and Hamas regarding a temporary humanitarian pause and exchange of some prisoners and hostages, as well as the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

The ceasefire has been extended several times and ended on December 1. More than 100 hostages are believed to still be held by Hamas in Gaza.

A number of negotiation offers have failed to agree on a new ceasefire to date. Israel continues to carry out brutal massacres of Palestinians in Gaza even though the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered the Zionist regime to prevent genocide.

Israeli Sniper Kills Palestinian Brothers in Khan Younis, Gaza Strip – Latest News & Updates

GAZA TRACK – Israeli soldiers executed a 13-year-old boy, Nahed Barbakh, in Khan Younis when he left his house carrying a white flag.

His brother Ramiz (20) rushed to save him and was also shot dead by Israeli forces.

This marked one of several similar tragedies in which Israel killed many Palestinian civilians holding white flags.

The actions of the Zionist colonial army constitute a war crime according to international law.

Meanwhile, Nasser Hospital, the main medical facility in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, has run out of food, anesthetics and painkillers as a result of the fifth day of the Israeli siege, according to a spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.

“There are 150 health workers, 350 patients and hundreds of displaced families at the Nasser Medical Complex in conditions of famine, targeting and lack of treatment,” said Dr Ashraf al-Qudra.

“Nasser Hospital is functioning with only 10% of its personnel and the conditions are inhumane,” the Palestinian Ministry of Health said on Thursday.

On the other hand, groups opposing the war in Israel began to emerge. It is still too early to say whether the loss of 21 Israeli soldiers in one day at the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza will be a watershed moment in the war in Gaza.

TEL AVIV – Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu was furious that 24 of his soldiers were killed in one day in Gaza. He promised on Tuesday (23/1/2024) to take revenge against Palestinian fighters.

This is the highest death toll for the Israeli colonial army (IDF) in a single day since their war against Hamas began in October.

The IDF said on Tuesday that 21 of its members were killed near Khan Younis a day earlier, when Hamas fighters fired anti-tank missiles at them.

The resulting explosion triggered further explosions that caused the collapse of two buildings while many Israeli soldiers were inside or nearby.

“Following the explosion, commanders operating on the ground, together with rescue teams who arrived at the scene, have carried out a very complex operation to evacuate victims and locate the injured,” said the IDF statement.

Israeli officials did not provide details about the other three IDF deaths on Monday.

Netanyahu called Monday “one of the most difficult days since the outbreak of the war.” He said, “The IDF is investigating the incident to learn the necessary lessons and is doing everything to save the lives of our fighters.”

“In the name of our heroes, in the name of our lives, we will not stop fighting until absolute victory,” Netanyahu said.

Israeli Airstrikes in Gaza and Demands for Prisoner Release: Gaza Track and Recent Developments

GAZA TRACK – More than 100 Israeli military commanders and officers demanded not to withdraw from the northern Gaza Strip until all prisoners held by the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas are freed.

The demands were made in a letter signed by 130 members of the army addressed to the war cabinet and Israeli military Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, according to Israeli media reports.

“The letter discusses the two main objectives of the Israeli forces (IDF) in this war: the complete destruction of Hamas and the successful release of all hostages,” said the Jerusalem Post report.

The report focuses on recent developments, including the withdrawal of certain brigades from the enclave. The report also questions whether “the goals we want to achieve” have been achieved.

Failure to Achieve Extraordinary Victory

Last week, the Israeli army withdrew the 36th Division from northern Gaza to rest and train, while the other three divisions remained in the Palestinian territories.

Previously, Israel also withdrew the Golani Brigade after 60 days of fighting, reportedly suffering heavy losses.

The report further stated, “The soldiers answered their own question by saying the IDF and the Israeli government failed to turn the many small victories achieved around the Gaza Strip into overwhelming systematic and strategic victories.”

The report continued, “Officials argued: Quite simply, the achievements to date are significant but not enough to truly say ‘mission accomplished.’”

The Impact of Red Sea Crisis on Europe: 5 Key Effects on Economic Outlook and Shipping

LONDON – Weeks of attacks by struggle groups Houthi Iran-backed attacks on ships in the Red Sea have disrupted shipping in the Suez Canal, the fastest sea route between Asia and Europe that carries 12% of global container traffic.

For the European economy, which has weathered a mild recession in its bid to escape high inflation, a prolonged disruption would be a new risk to its economic outlook and could derail the central bank’s plans to start cutting interest rates this year.

5 Impacts of the Red Sea Crisis on Europe

1. Commodity Delivery Takes Longer

According to Reuters, macroeconomically, it is small to negligible. Although the German Economy Ministry emphasized that it was monitoring the situation, this week it said that the only real impact on production so far had been a few cases of extended delivery times.

Bank of England chief Andrew Bailey agreed, and told a parliamentary hearing that it had “not really had the impact that I feared”, but acknowledged that uncertainty was still real.

2. Increased Inflation
