Pasakโข Chonlasit Dam Increases Drainage Amid rising Water Levels, โคResidents Warned
SARABURI – โAuthorities announced today,โฃ September 20, 2025, an increaseโฃ in water drainage from teh Pasak Chonlasit dam โ(No. 8) to manage rising waterโฃ levels and mitigate potentialโ impacts on communities along โฃthe โPa Sak River.โ The move comes as inflow to the dam continues โto increase.
Currently, the dam holds 709 millionโ cubic meters โof โคwater, representingโ 74% of its total capacity. โInflow is measured at 614 cubic meters per second (53 million cubicโ meters per โฃday), while โthe current drainage rateโข isโ 400 cubic meters per second (34 millionโฃ cubic meters per day). The Sak Saksit Water Delivery and Maintenance Project will incrementally increase drainage to 500 cubic meters per second to maintain safe water โlevels. This adjustment is particularly crucial for low-lying areas susceptible to flooding.
The drainage increaseโค will occur โคin stages: a rise to 450 cubic meters per second โon september 20, 2025, followed by an increase to โข500 cubic meters per second on September 21, 2025. Consequently, water levels in the Pa Sak River are expected to rise approximately 1.30 to 1.50 meters, perhaps impactingโฃ areas like the Ton Tan floating market in Ton Tan Subdistrict, Sao Hai District, Saraburi โProvince. Residents โin these areas are advised to closely monitorโ the water situation and prepare for potential disruptions.
