She further elaborated on this experience in her book, Like the vine branch. The challenge of staying on the way to God,published by Rizzoli.
For a long time I felt mutilated and divided into two. Enzo Manfredi took away a part of me And I had to develop a part of him to make my parents survive.
The bond between Romanoff and her brother was exceptionally close. She recalls their method of reconciliation after arguments:
- Writing heartfelt letters.
- Placing them under each other’s doors.
- Maintaining a collection of these letters as cherished memories.
A Shared Memory: Africa and an Unexpected Spider Bite
One vivid memory stands out: a trip to Africa when Romanoff was 10 and Enzo was 13.The accommodations were basic, and the siblings shared a bed.
The accommodations at that time were very Spartan. We slept together in a Latvian, removing the mosquito net with care. At night I woke up with a grate annoyance of one eye. The light turned on. “What do I have?” I asked him. “Don’t look in the mirror.” A huge spider had a point on the eyelid. My brother did not know how to tell mine, who would frighten, so he went to look for an Italian dentist who was staying in the same hotel.I made the first communion with the blindfold on the purple eye.
Finding Solace in Faith
In the aftermath of her brother’s death, Romanoff turned to faith for solace. She emphasizes the absence of easy answers or explanations, stating, With his death for me the world turned upside down and I had even more needing God in my life.

- An integral part of her existence.
- A daily story of friendship with God.
- A source of comfort and guidance.

Motherhood and a Career in Cinema
Romanoff became a mother at a young age, having her first child at 19 and her second at 21. She credits motherhood with giving her hope and redirecting her life.
Becoming so young mother changed my lifeit was a decisive choice, which put me back in the world, he gave me hope.
Her entry into cinema was almost accidental. After being turned down by a fashion agency in Paris for not being tall or thin enough, she was told, But with that speaker somewhere you will arrive.
This prediction came true when she secretly auditioned for Gabriele Muccino’s Remember Me, My Love.
She recalls her initial experience on set:
I am perfectionist, who is also a defect, because you don’t enjoy things. Very concentrated, I knew the part by heart, I could have said the jokes in contrast. Gabriele made me scream many times to download the tension.
Working alongside Laura Morante and Monica Bellucci, whom she describes as fantastic, they taught me so much, gently,
was a formative experience. Though, one scene proved notably challenging.
Romanoff struggled with a scene where she had to slap Morante. Exasperated Muccino shouted: “Come on, you have to give her a real slap!”. And in the end I started a terrible blasting. I did a lot of sport, I had a lot of strength in my arm. We had to stop.I was very mortified.
