The year 2020 was for DOJANG Vienna Taekwondo very successful. The Taekwondo School from Vienna Währing and Döbling was the most successful Taekwondo club in Vienna and also in Eastern Austria in the past year. At the Austrian event held in Baden at the end of October State Championships Taekwondo 2020 DOJANG Vienna won a total of three national championship titles, plus additional silver and bronze medals.

Then came the lockdown and both regular training and the championships were temporarily canceled. Head coach Peter Nestler is all the more pleased about the successes at the state championships in Taekwondo.

Instead of live tournaments, there have been a series of championships that have been held online since the end of March 2020. To do this, videos had to be uploaded to YouTube, which were then rated by international referees from many countries. Here, too, the athletes from DOJANG Vienna Taekwondo were able to achieve good results.

Incidentally, Peter Nestler was also fully involved as International Referee in 2020. He was nominated as referee in a total of 15 tournaments, including a world championship, a European tournament and the world ranking tournament Presidents Cup. Four of them took place live at the beginning of the year, all others online afterwards.

“In the current year 2021, we will see the opposite development, initially a series of online tournaments, but also live tournaments again from late spring. The online tournaments could, however, have a fixed place in the calendar, as they also address other participants who, for example, each other Can’t travel like that, but are also good at Taekwondo, “Nestler is convinced. “We are well prepared for this and have developed an online rating system that can be operated from anywhere via the Internet. This means that every Taekwondo tournament can be held with ratings,” he adds.
