Tabitha about her new album: ‘I did almost everything myself’ | NOW

Singer Tabitha has been working on the road for some time and can no longer be ignored from the Dutch charts. Her new album was released last Friday Hello With Me. She has released an album for the first time under her own record label. “This time I did almost everything myself.”

Tabitha was the most streamed female artist in the Netherlands last year. Her music will remain popular in 2020 as well. She released the single a few weeks earlier Hello With Me out and the eponymous album followed on Friday.

For the album with mainly solo songs, the singer took care of the entire production process. Tabitha was involved in arranging the finances to write and produce the songs.

“It was a ridiculous amount of work. But because I did everything myself, I was really involved in everything. That was really cool”, said the singer.

‘This album is a new chapter in my career’

The singer mentions the release of Hello With Me a “new chapter” in her career. “I’m ready to show myself to everyone in the Netherlands. The songs are very personal and I want others to get the feeling: hey, I’m not alone.” Tabitha wrote most of the songs on the album herself. “When I’m writing I sometimes feel like a completely different person,” says the singer.

She has been working on her new album for about a year and a half. During that period, the corona virus also got a foothold in the Netherlands. This meant that performances were omitted, but the singer did not sit still.

‘I always think: we just have to make do with it’

“I have a positive attitude and always think: we just have to do it. When I couldn’t perform because of corona, I threw myself into the album. That meant writing songs, among other things.”

Although the new album mainly features solo songs, Tabitha also entered the studio with a few other artists. She worked on the song with BLØF singer Paskal Jakobsen Stay Here Yet and with rappers Glen Faria and Willem de Bruin on The light goes out.

Last Thursday, Tabitha presented her album to a small group of fans in the Melkweg in Amsterdam. “Due to corona there were unfortunately only ten fans present. I am especially looking forward to letting everyone hear what I have been working on.”
