Syracuse University ‍Maintains High Academic Standards with 92% Graduation Success Rate

Syracuse University student-athletes⁤ continue‌ to excel academically, achieving a 92% Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for the 2018⁣ cohort – surpassing the national average of 90%.‌ This consistent⁤ performance underscores the‍ University’s dedication to supporting the academic pursuits of its athletes.

“Our student-athletes consistently ⁤demonstrate⁣ excellence both on the field and ⁣in‍ the classroom,” stated ‍Katie Scanlon, Director of ⁣Student-Athlete success and Engagement. “This success is ‌a testament to the‍ commitment of our students and staff to prioritize education alongside high-level athletic competition.”

A⁣ notable⁢ number of Syracuse University teams achieved perfect‍ 100% ⁣GSR scores in ‌the⁤ latest report, including women’s basketball, ‍field hockey, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, softball, tennis, and both men’s track & field and cross ‍country. All but two Syracuse teams exceeded the national GSR average.

The⁣ University’s commitment to academic support has⁤ fostered a culture of success, reflected in its sustained betterment in GSR over time. Several programs ⁤boast particularly impressive long-term records. Women’s tennis and women’s volleyball have ⁤maintained⁢ perfect GSRs for 14 consecutive‍ years – the longest active streaks in ⁤the athletics department. The volleyball⁤ program leads ‌all ⁣Syracuse programs with ⁣16 ⁣perfect GSR scores in the 21 years the metric has been tracked. men’s track & field and cross‍ country⁤ have achieved a perfect ‌score for⁣ 12 straight years‌ and 14 times overall in the 21-year history of the ‍GSR.

Further highlighting this success: the men’s lacrosse team has an eight-year perfect GSR streak, while‌ the women’s ⁣basketball team has achieved a⁢ perfect score for the ‍past seven⁤ years. ⁣Men’s and ‌women’s‌ soccer⁢ programs have each maintained a six-year streak of perfect scores, and the ‍women’s soccer program has earned 13 perfect GSR scores overall.

The NCAA introduced the GSR in 2004 as a more comprehensive measure of student-athlete graduation than the Federal Graduation Rate. The GSR accounts for students who begin college in the spring semester, those ⁢who transfer to the ⁤institution, ⁢and ⁤those who transfer from the institution in good academic standing – factors not considered in‍ the Federal Graduation Rate. This provides a more accurate and complete picture ⁤of student-athlete success⁣ at⁣ Syracuse University.
