Sylvana Simons is scolded by the chairman: ‘It looks like a kindergarten class here’ | Inland

The skirmishes arose during a speech by Caroline van der Plas (BBB), who opposed ‘woke’ and said that she does not see color, but people. “I saw that Simons was laughing at her outside the microphone,” says Beertema. “She always does that to me. I leaned over to her and asked why she was so resentful of white people. ‘Where does that hate come from?’”

Kindergarten

While Van der Plas was speaking, Simons took the floor and asked the chairman of the debate to intervene. “There is a Member of Parliament here who is trying to intimidate me outside the microphone.” Beertema responded again. President Tellegen reacted irritated because they had not been given the floor and both Simons and Beertema kept chatting through the speech of other MPs. At this Simons spoke again, whereupon Tellegen burst out: “Say good morning. It’s like a kindergarten class here. Raising my four children is even easier than leading this debate.” Tellegen told Simons: “You have no more rights than any other MP.”

Simons says she will report the intimidation she has experienced to the presidency of the House of Representatives. Until then, she does not want to repeat Beertema’s exact words. “Otherwise everyone will judge whether it is bad enough. They were words like ‘you will like it’.”

Beertema denies that. “Are you crazy? I was once attempted to kill my car when they broke down my car. That is intimidation.” Other MPs who attended the debate say they were unable to determine exactly which intimidating words he hurled at Simons. Several witnesses do indicate that Beertema was challenging the Bij1 leader by firing questions at her during the argument from others why she feels so easily offended.
