Switzerland is waiting for a quarter of the vaccination doses – TOP ONLINE

The cantons lack vaccines. They need to adjust their vaccination schedules. People who are ready to be vaccinated from the risk groups to be vaccinated must be put off, some vaccination appointments that have already been booked have to be canceled or new appointments are no longer given. The reason for this is that the federal government promised the cantons too much vaccine for the first two months. The canton of Zurich had already expressed criticism.

As the “Tages-Anzeiger” reported on Friday, the federal government had actually expected vaccine deliveries of around 1.6 million doses by the end of February. This shows a list of the federal government from the end of December, which the newspaper has. The federal government reckoned with 702,000 cans from Pfizer-Biontech and 900,000 cans from Moderna. However, the federal government only received 1.16 million doses – a quarter too few.

As the newspaper continues, the cantons have not yet received any delivery quantities for April. This makes planning even more difficult. Improvement should come at the end of spring. From May, the federal government expects 3.5 million cans per month. In addition, two new vaccines will then be inoculated.
