Taylor Swift‘s Lawyer Disputes Claims of Agreed Deposition in ‘It Ends With Us’ Legal Dispute
LOS ANGELES – Attorneys for Taylor swift have refuted assertions that the singer has agreed to provide testimony in the ongoing legal battle between actor Justin Baldoni and blake lively’s production company, Wayfarer Studios. The dispute centers around allegations baldoni made regarding script changes to the film It Ends With Us.
According to a recent filing,Swift’s legal team argues that the Wayfarer Defendants’ request for an extension to schedule her deposition is unwarranted,citing their delayed initiation of contact with Swift’s counsel. The filing states the defendants “do not appear to have contacted Ms. Swift’s counsel regarding a date or location about the deposition until earlier this week.”
The filing further contends that the delay is detrimental to the discovery process, emphasizing the need for diligence in pursuing third-party depositions. “Indeed, the need for potential follow-up discovery requests and depositions is why third-party depositions need to be pursued with diligence in a discovery schedule, and the Wayfarer defendants should not be rewarded for their inexplicable failure to do so,” the document reads. Swift’s lawyers are requesting the extension request be denied.
The legal conflict arose after Baldoni claimed he was invited to Lively‘s home in 2023 to discuss script alterations, where Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, and Swift were allegedly present to offer feedback, described as serving as Lively’s ”dragons.”
Swift’s representative previously dismissed Baldoni’s subpoena as a publicity stunt “designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.” The representative affirmed Swift had no involvement in the film’s production beyond the inclusion of her song “My tears Ricochet” on the soundtrack.
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film,” the spokesperson stated. “She did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”
