Suzuki Carry Moncer Sales Amid Pandemic

jpnn.com, JAKARTA – PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales recorded an increase in market share in the New Carry Pick-Up commercial vehicle line, which sold 15,021 units in the January-May 2020 period.

That number is not too large, but in a COVID-19 pandemic situation with declining automotive sales, Carry managed to increase its market share from 54.5 percent in 2019 to 59.4 percent in 2020.

“The need for lightweight commercial cars such as New Carry still exists even in the current pandemic conditions, especially from MSME entrepreneurs,” said Dony Saputra, 4W Marketing Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales in a written statement.

Dony added, Carry’s contribution to the national automotive market also rose to 10 percent.

“This is evidenced by the increased contribution of the New Carry pickup to total national sales from 8 percent in the January-May 2019 period to 10 percent in the same period this year,” Dony said.

“We are optimistic that the contribution of the commercial segment will continue to increase.”

Suzuki Indonesia considered that the commercial vehicle segment carried by Carry could survive in the midst of a pandemic because the car became a transport fleet of MSME entrepreneurs, especially as a medium-scale distribution tool for goods.

Suzuki Carry made in the country is a low-class pickup car that competes with Daihatsu GranMax and DFSK Supercab. (mg8 / jpnn)
