As of today, Dutch people who have been invited can receive a vaccination against monkey pox. 28-year-old Suzanne Peffe was in the front.

“As a child I was fascinated by vaccinations,” she says. “I had already been vaccinated against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, hib, mumps, measles, rubella, papilloma, meningococcus and corona. And from today also monkey pox”, says Suzanne proudly.

Not everyone gets the monkeypox vaccine, Suzanne noted: “You have to be known to the Sexual Health Center as someone with an increased risk of STDs, for example because you have many varying sexual contacts. I didn’t have that yet, so I’ve worked hard on that in recent weeks.”

The vaccine gave Suzanne a big boost. Not only physically, but also mentally: “The fact that I can now also resist monkey pox feels very nice. In career, social development and intelligence I was always better than others. But now I am also physically superior. I’m kind of a super person. That may sound strange, but it is true.”

Suzanne is proud of her well-filled vaccination passport. Yet she has not yet been poked: “I would very much like to be vaccinated against TB. And in September I will travel to Djibouti. Because if you go there, you can get the hepatitis shot.”
