Suspects of homosexual Belgians murder possibly more victims | NOW

The three suspects who are detained on suspicion of involvement in the death of a gay man in Beveren, Belgium, may have attacked two more gay men. Among the suspects are two underage boys, aged sixteen and seventeen.

The victim was trapped via the dating app Grindr last weekend and then mortally beaten. His body was discovered by a cyclist, after which the police started a large trace investigation.

The force is now also investigating whether the three are responsible for two other recent incidents in Beveren in which gay men were victims. In the Flemish city, two gays were recently robbed, they were also under the assumption that they had made an appointment via a dating app for gays.

According to the Belgian newspaper The last news the three suspects are no strangers to the police. The trio had previously been arrested for theft, vandalism and robbery. The young people would have reported themselves to the police.

Belgium was shocked to the incident. According to Belgian media, it has been established that 42-year-old David has become a victim of homophobia. Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, out of solidarity with the LGBTI community, had the rainbow flag hoisted at his office and residence in Brussels.

“It is important that we all make it clear together that there is no place for hatred in our country. Here everyone must be able to be themselves, regardless of your sexual preference or gender identity,” said De Croo. Some mayors have also hung the rainbow flag.
