The suspect in the Geldermalsen family murder has died in a German hospital after an attempted suicide. The 40-year-old man was found in his German cell in critical condition on Thursday night.
The prosecution does not say how it was possible that he killed himself. Despite his death, the criminal investigation into him will continue for some time.
He is suspected of killing his 38-year-old partner or ex-partner and their 6-year-old son. The two were found dead at their home in Geldermalsen on Monday morning. Emergency services responded to a report of a fire and found in the house the two victims, who had already died.
