Suspect throws water on a woman walking with her dog in Queens and shouts insults against the Asian community

NEW YORK – A 55-year-old Asian woman was the target of an alleged hate crime while walking one afternoon in Queens, New York City Police said.

The woman was walking her dog in Long Island City in May when a stranger allegedly approached her and “doused her with a bottle of water,” according to police. The unidentified person also allegedly yelled insults at the Asian community.

Police released a new surveillance video of the suspect on Sunday in relation to this incident that occurred on Saturday, May 22.

Following the attack, the suspect fled and has not been located since.

Authorities released the new video to ask the community for help with information about the suspect.

This one was last seen wearing a black hoodie, sunglasses, a blue shirt, gray pants, and gray sneakers. The uniformed officer noted that she is in her early 20s.

According to authorities, the victim was not seriously injured and the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is now investigating the case.
