Suspect throws a woman and her son down the stairs of a subway station in NYC – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – A mother and her son were thrown down a ladder in a Manhattan subway station Saturday morning, leaving the 58-year-old in critical condition, authorities announced.

The New York City Police said the couple was leaving the subway station in Canal Street, before 11:00 am on Saturday, when an unidentified man, who was walking behind them, allegedly assaulted the mother and her son.

According to the uniformed officer, the suspect complained about the 22-year-old victim’s backpack before pushing him down the stairs. Then, the police said, the suspect turned his attention to the victim’s mother and made her fall down the stairs.

The 58-year-old woman ended up with a severe head injury and was transported to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, police said. His son was not seriously injured.

The Uniformed stressed that the suspect fled the station. The police investigation is ongoing.
