Someone was injured in an arrest on Schieplein in Rotterdam on Wednesday afternoon. During the arrest, during which warning shots were fired, one of the two suspects became ‘unwell’. He was injured and taken to hospital.

The car in which the two suspects drove was seen by the police on Capelseweg just before 13:00. The officers identified the co-driver as being wanted. The officers on duty then gave a stop sign, but the motorist, a 25-year-old woman from Veessen, accelerated and took off.
The police then gave chase. At the exit on Schieplein, the driver collided with another car, causing her to come to a stop. The suspect, a 28-year-old man from Rotterdam, became unwell after his arrest. The Rotterdammer was injured and taken to hospital.
Whether he was injured during the arrest is being investigated by the National Criminal Investigation Department, led by the judiciary. The latter emphasizes that the man was not injured by the warning shot.
