Survey: How small business survivors lockdown

In the last many months, entrepreneurs from the areas of production, trade and services, as well as catering and retail in non-specialized stores, have had to stop their business.

A survey by NMS Market Research for Slavia pojišťovna showed that more than half (52 percent) of self-employed people had to deal with a loss of income in the past year, and almost half (48 percent) cited the loss of orders or clients as the second most common risk. These risks are most serious especially for companies with an annual turnover of up to one million crowns, ie typically for self-employed persons.

Reduces costs, creates reserves

Almost two-fifths of the losses caused by the lockdown to self-employed persons are planned to be solved mainly by reducing costs. A quarter prefers better creation of financial reserves as an adequate solution to unexpected risks.

More than a fifth of entrepreneurs then rely on government assistance.

Currently, only every roughly seventh to eighth entrepreneur dares to make new investments. In the case of small tradesmen with a turnover of less than a million crowns, there is not even a tenth of them.

“The domestic economy has been in a huge decline over the past year and countless areas of business have been affected. Especially small entrepreneurs can easily get into existential problems, and therefore the support of self-employed people is crucial for us in these difficult times. At the same time, our research showed that these entrepreneurs are not used to sharing risks, for example with appropriate insurance, “added Ladislav Bělina from Slavia pojišťovna.
