The effects of the corona crisis are also having a financial impact on the Austrians. As a survey on behalf of Erste Bank showed, 4 out of 10 people currently have to cut back on their household budgets. Nevertheless, they want to save more in the coming months than in the previous year.
The study was carried out on behalf of Erste Bank from Integral. The institute asked 1,000 Austrians aged 14 and over via telephone and online interviews about their planned forms of savings and investments and their financing needs. The survey took place in the second quarter from June 17 to June 30, 2020.
The group of 30 to 49-year-olds is most affected by financial losses, where almost half (46 percent) stated that they felt financial restrictions as a result of the crisis. Overall, around a third of those surveyed (32 percent) stated that the economic consequences of the corona crisis were associated with financial losses for them.
